Dung from insects namely caterpillars, excess moisture. You can stop most budrot by keeping humidity low and using BT in the weeks prior to bud set and bud formation. Stop using BT at least 2 weeks prior to harvest and if you feel you must wash yer buds.

@MidwestGuy nailed. It the only other thing I can say is avoid mosture on the plant, rain/humidity /wster spilling, and choose genetics that have strong mold/mildue resistance. Ones meant for high humidity environments.
