How much space is needed to set up a aquaponics system

Question from a fellow grower:

I am interested in knowing how much vertical and horizontal space I need to plan for an enclosed (dark, below light level root space) aeroponic growth system.
I am working on conversion of a prior patented commercial aquaponic system to aeroponics for both common vegetables as well as MJ applications.
