Hey everyone,
I have a humidifier running in my 4x4 tent that I have two seedlings in. The humidity is running at around 70%. I have water dripping down the sides of my tent. Is this too much humidity? I don’t want to end up with mold. Temp is 70-75
I think you can probably turn that off and put a dome over them till they get big enough.
Good luck!
Meh I dont use domes on seedlings I’d rather them adjust to natural humidity of tent besides they block to much light , but really theres almost no to much humidity during seedling and early veg mr eagles ran his tent at 90% during veg and had fantastic results but if your afraid of mold try to get the air circulating as much as you can an let it get as low as 60%
The climate in your tent has reached its dew point. The air’s temperature has fallen below the point where it can hold all of the moisture you are adding. The water vapor is simply turning back to condensate i.e. water droplets and means you are at 100% RH. Increase the temperature and don’t run the humidifier as much to get it down to 70%.
You can dome them if very small / young sprouts. Once they have leaves I lean toward letting them fend for themselves.
The only subtle adjustment I’d make there is that the walls of our tents have a dew point that can be different from the air volume of the tent. That’s why they condensation is forming on the walls and not on the light fixture, etc.
Tents don’t exist with this design, but if you had inches of insulation between your grow space and the cooler room around it, the interior wall surface could be kept well above the dew point. Anyone who tries to build a grow room should consider this.
Thank you everyone
@Caligurl has shown a VPD chart above, although a Cannabis specific VPD chart is a little easier to read.
go by stage of plant followed by temp then find that humidity.
so 70% is ideal but you need to ensure your temp is in the right range.
you could dome them for now though until they are bigger, then the tent humidty will be lower as they will be further along.
Ideally you want to stick around 27c or 79f
You should be venting your exhaust OUTSIDE so the mold issue shouldn’t be an issue. inside your house your humidity should stay below 50% but again depends on temperature for dew point, again should be venting outside or you do risk molding the inside of your walls.
@Nicky nicky is correct, I do have that first chart as well. Good catch I need to move that chart out of my cannabis file and into my gardening file
I know you know what your talking about lol just has no stages on that one. i edited my grow pics a week or two ago and now have a folder “Grow References”
@Nicky Too funny! I was in the process of organizing all of my files as well and it does include a regular gardening section separated out by plants as well… I’m hoping to have a killer greenhouse that I can section off for the different things I want to grow, each with separate environment controls. It might take a while but it will happen! I’ve already started gathering my legacy seeds
Thank you. I will turn the heat up some in the tent and hopefully that will help.
