How many plants and how big LED's?

For a Grow tent, 39"x39"x70" how many plants and what size LED’s would be right for this tent? Also when comes to picking the plants, what heights should be looking for? I read somewhere someone was doing a mixed tent grow with auto’s and reg flowering plant and so when they switched lights to 12/12 it wouldn’t mess with auto’s, I kinda like that idea if I wanted to try a different strain then auto’s. TIA

I would suggest about 500 “true” watts of light.

I would think you could fit 4 plants maybe, especially if you SCROG them.

It’s true that the auto’s won’t be affected by the light difference from a budding time standpoint. You just might be harvesting the auto’s sooner than the others.

Ty @Matthew420, I saw a tent for sale this size that would be about right for the space I have available in my garage, It comes with a 600 watt LED I was just wondering how many plants I could grow in it and how efficient the 600 watt light would be.

Sorry @bob31 did not know that. I’ll try and correct it

That light is ~270 true watts so maybe 2x 400w LED’s? Two of the one you listed might be a bit too much. One is probably not quite enough.

And as @bob31, eBay links aren’t allowed. Easy to just do a screen shot though  It just can’t be a link.

No worries from me @Wishbone

Matt knows his lighting and tent setups!

I use Viparspecta LED’s, only because it’s what I picked originally.

One thing I learned, it’s better to spread the wattage out over multiple lights to get the most even coverage.

You might consider something like 4 of these…

I have too much wattage down the center of my tent because I went with 2x 900W LEDs. If I had it to do over, I would have done 4x 600W LED’s for even canopy coverage. My tent is 5’x5’

all good we have all at some point been guilty of sharing offsite links

I use three light in my 4x4 tent 1000 cob in center and two 400 watt cobs on sides just throwing it out there lol
But I was considering the same thing that @Matthew420 said about even coverage and may pick up few more lights in the future

On the Mars hydro 300w that@matthew420 linked…

I have 2 of these in a 4 x 2 x 5, harvested ~ 2. 1/4 oz each plant on my first Grow of WWAF. I think they are a good choice.

Just run across this thread. A newbie trying to learn! I will have 48 square feet to work with. We are soaking the seeds (20) and looks like a 100% success. Will have cfls mounted in brooder reflectors over 4" peat pots once I put them in dirt with cfls what is the true wattage I will need to get them out of the ground. I have 2-23 watt 100 watt equivalent daylight cfl in each reflector and 3 reflectors that will cover 4 1/2 square feet. Is that enough? I can double bulbs in reflector. With the 48 sf, I like the 132 true watts led, how many would i need? Please help getting nervous. Have grown many things but not marijuana! Thanks in advance!
