How long do I have to wait?

A costumer has a question or concerns and i hope we can get some opinions on it. Thanks!

“A pic of my northern light, I’m a first time grower and just wanted to see what you think, roughly how long more do I have to wait to harvest her (weeks or days to go)? I’m thinking 2 more weeks the calendar said to harvest mid-September but obviously the plant is massive so I wasn’t near ready then. I had to prune/cut when she was in the veg stage (June/July) and was growing too tall branches over 12 foot back then, now I know why its called “weed” as mine is growing like crazy! Any expert advice?”

Based on what I see, you have 4 to 6 weeks left before the buds mature. Very pretty plants!

@Myfriendis410 oh i still have that long to go!! :face_with_raised_eyebrow: thought alot sooner then that cause calander was mid sept, a long wait so!

I would have to agree with @Myfriendis410.

Big plants but buds (pistils or hair) are still all white.

At least another month. Watch leaves look for yellowing Al the colas will fill a lot more. So don’t touch it let it grow!!! You’re close but give her more time. You will be glad you did.

@Har, the white pistils are telling you that the plant is actively flowering. That’s exactly what you don’t want to interrupt lol. When you see between 60 and 80% have turned brown it’s time to start looking at the trichomes to determine the point of harvest.

I would suggest you look at some of the free grow guides and download the Grow Bible to familiarize yourself with what’s about to happen. Hope you have a lot of help because you’re gonna need it! That’s a GOOD thing haha!

Cheers @Myfriendis410 Ok good you reckon i will have alot of bud so happy days, im in Ireland so weathers getting colder now or will it still be ok as in green house ( as in keep flowering as less sun/ and what about bud rot could that set in at this stage) i examined her today and a few smaller buds had abit of mould so i nipped/picked them off, the larger ones look good tho…

You can’t go by calendar alone, many things play a role in the length of flowering, duration of light period, temps and strain are only the most important, but do not make for the total picture.

I love this illustration as for what to look for in the appearance of a ripe bud.

Even though it says 6-7 or 7-8 weeks for flowering, again, this is just an average for a hybrid, and different strains will take more or less time.

Happy growing,

Yaeh buddy the patience part was the hardest part of my first 2 grows both looked ready and smelled ready to me and I have been around a lot of weed in my younger days . Now I know I probably lost a ounce or two a plant because even when mine got to the final size they ended up getting they still got denser and just kept building all the good sticky stuff . Now the trichs turning amber is about the only thing I pay attention to for harvest I use this hope it helps

Yea i know now that waiting for the end result is tough but hopefully worth it, thanks for your help/advice…how many ounces u reckon/should I get?? @Oldstoner

At that plants size with time and care there is mo reason not to hope for a pound you already have the attention of @MacGyverStoner and my methods are just following what the mentors say I am sure he will be back to suggest a way to feed to get the best results

I should also say that you should take every possible step to prevent bud rot now. Fans, dehumidifiers, baking soda sprays are all things to consider.

My NL plant (as opposed to your TREE!) was at that stage a couple of weeks ago. Now pretty much all the pistols are brown but the trichomes are still all white. In the last two weeks the colas have gone crazy and gotten buds on the buds. They get really fat. You won’t want to miss this. I had to tie a support string for every branch.

A pound, happy with that :joy::crossed_fingers: This is such an amazing plant/tree to see grow…thanks for info
