Hello! I am growing in the high desert and my humidity runs between 5 and 30% ish. Lots of bloody noses and such.
I trimmed some smaller flower and noticed it basically crisped up in just 2 days.
Any suggestions on how to slow drying down and not have it mold during the process? Not feasible for me to power humidifier as I run an off grid farm and not much power available.
Am about a month out from harvest or so and would like to have this figured. I have an herb drying net rack on the way.
Perhaps a few buckets of water in the drying room could help raise humidity as it evaporates. Just a thought.
Boveda packs if you can dry them in paper bags? Im thinking you may need something on a larger scale though?.. Maybe a couple of hygrometers and a wicking humidifier?
When you harvest, leave the fan leaves on, this will make the drying process longer… Don’t wet trim… This may help a bit… Or get a humidifier to add moisture to room… @HighDesertFarmer
You can cut all the buds and put them in jar…inside you can put a banana peal or orange peal to rise the humidity of your buds!
I do that anyway! I like that it helps the buds dry slower. It’s like smoking meats… low and slow!
I was thinking if it’s really humid, trim so you avoid mold, if it’s a dry/ arid room, leave the leaves so it’s stays wetter?.. My first grow I wet trimmed cause I had some rot on my buds… I got skeered lol @bob31
I just checked my drying bud (BBA) and it was at 55% RH so I put a couple of Boveda packs into the brown paper bag with them. I need to dry trim and jar it up this afternoon, but it rained and messed me up. Can’t do it in the house…
Cardboard box makes excellent drying space string lines through it and hang mostly close box leaving it open enough to get air but not too much the cardboard absorbs moisture the mostly sealed box holds some RH while not letting sweat build
