Yes, quicker to harvest is always good, specially with no down side to it, no loss of yield or quality.
I just got this light a couple weeks back direct from FGI and I paid $116 - delivered!
And after you add it to your cart they make you an offer for a second at a bigger discount and then offer you a UVA bar at a discount.
i’d go direct to FGI and bypass Amazon on this one.
Oh - and it puts out the reds…LOL!
I toed it in a little since it hangs behind the 350R, my HLG UVA is toed in on the other side.
If I had waited 6 months and had the slightly wider Spider Farmer tents they sell now I’d have one of each on either side.
But both bars cover the 2x4 with no problems.
edit: There’s 32 LEDs on that bar BTW.
@Tylersays, thanks man, your set up looks good. I already got the HLG ones. I try to buy as much as I can from my local grow store and avoid Amazon whenever possible.
Mount however you get the most even and balanced coverage. A few inches one way or the other isn’t going to make any noticeable difference. I believe these can help get you to harvest a little sooner, not necessarily that they will undoubtedly do so. For cost of most isn’t too bad to tinker with.
Unfortunately the woman finally figured out how to use the app so we have something coming nearly every day from Amazon. And I’m just as bad honestly.
It’s so easy to just go on the site and find what you want and order it immediately.
However, after my Spider Farmer light purchases i won’t be buying lights there in the future. Not because the SF’s were bad or anything - they’re firing up the auto tent as we speak, but because that is an investment that gets better results elsewhere. FGI is based in Washington State and is a “local” company, FWIW, and I’m happy to support and promote them as I am HLG, whose 350R is my main in that tent. VERY happy with that and the UVA I have purchased from them and say to everyone - get you some HLG!!!
Although, this offering from FGI intrigues me.
This thing I believe is where grow lighting is heading.
It’s full spectrum app controllable. It doesn’t have dedicated UV LEDs but it does have 64 Far Red built in.
Ultimate control a nearly the full spectrum in one little package.
I’m seriously tempted to get a 3x3 tent and retire my 2x2 after this grow and get this light for it just to see.
If it was Samsung diodes I would have already! LOL!!
I almost bought a couple or three of the HLG ones the morning I found this - my thread from them buried over in the lighting section! LOL!
I ran across the FGI and it basically came down to the ease of installation. It was gonna be a whole lot easier to hang a bar as opposed to 2 or 3 spots.
I hope they give you everything you want from them plus some man!!
HGE!!!
Mine look same exact lol came same way also. I run the light with the mains goes on with and comes off with the mains. So far not bad. Res is supposed to promote stretch in flower if u keep the lights dialed down right the stretch van be controlled still even using the far reds.
The site is okay seems a bit more expensive for some things vs hlg like the uva bars. Looks identical to the hlg uva30 bar but cost 20 or 30 buck more than hlg does for their uva bar. I guess it all depends on if u wanna support Hong Kong buying from there vs buying from hlg being in this country keeping our money here thats one thing I seen orders sent usually within 10 days from our Hong Kong based store.
I’ll post a picture tomorrow of the sticker on the HLG that states it’s made in China! Lights are out now and I DON’T open the tent after lights out. I seem to see that a lot around here! LOL!
At any rate, the HLG Boards are all assembled overseas. They mount them to the chassis and wire them up here. So there’s that…
But the UVA light is probably made in the same factory as the FGI FR bar - everything is exactly alike except the LEDs and the hangers. FGI has better hangers…sorry HLG - it’s true.
As stated above FGI is an American owned company based in Washington state. Not sure where you got Hong Kong from fella!
Happy Growing Everyone!!!
Parts are made in China the lights themselves r put together in states here. I believe the boards r made in China diodes t twaiwan or something all diodes r hand picked not machine picked most everything made is made in China lol. Hell I believe they r not even regulating meats anymore from sounds of it so no telling where out meats come from anymore lol of that started yet. But anywho all is put together here in states not in China it’s china made parts but everything electrical has something that came from China
I started using the far red for the Emerson effect this time with a crop of ILGM S1 seeds.
Mid-flower now.
Also have some clones from these two girls vegging in another tent.
Thank you @dbrn32, I’m hillbilly engineering a mounting system for them now. I want to be able to raise and lower them with the main fixtures in each space!
Believe what you wish - none of my concern. BUT, the UVA bar is built and assembled in China.
That’s why it’s labeled as such. That’s the law in the US.
The HLG far red PAR bulbs are discontinued, and they’re working on a better IR solution, but they won’t be ready for months – this according to HLG this morning.
I don’t know if I should be happy I was able to get them before they were discontinued, or bummed that a newer version will be available in a few months, lol! Either way, they were pretty inexpensive, so even if they help a bit it was worth it.
You doing a 13/11 cycle with the FRs?
I only have them come on for 4 minutes, starting 1 minute after the main grow lights turn off.
They definitely seem to help the plants grow faster when they’re young, but I haven’t noticed any shorter finish times since I’ve added them, and that was the main reason I got them. I’m still averaging 14 weeks for my autos to go from seed to harvest.
Thanks for the fast reply Cap
Is that the only time schedule you have tried so far?
Yes, I read some scary stuff about making sure not to use them during lights on. I guess it can trigger something called “shade avoidance syndrome” and make them stretch out of control.
I think they’re supposed to help the plants be ready for rest during the lights out period. In the natural outdoors plants know the sun is going down because the spectrum is changing. It’s almost like they’re getting ready for bed, lol. In our grow rooms, the lights typically go from full power during the lights on period, to instantly dark. So these far red bulbs supposedly help the plants go into rest mode much quicker once the main grow lights go off.
If I can get some roots to pop I’ma do this run 5 before lights out 10 after.
Or 3-7, haven’t decided for sure. One reason glad I refound this thread to touch base with you
