HLG 350R for my 2x4 tent?

I’m about ten days into my first indoor grow. Been reading a lot of posts and getting info incognito. Things are looking good, but I think I’ve made a rookie mistake in my switch from outdoor to indoor. I got a 2x4 Vivosun tent with the VS2000 light. It’s apparent to me that it’s not nearly enough light for what I want to do. I’m think about buying the HLG 350R. It looks like HLG’s best for flowering in a 2x4 because of its shape and output. I don’t want to spend more than I have to, but I want top notch results. At $499 i figured I’d better ask around. Anyone have an opinion on this particular HLG light?

Great light! It may be a tad over-powered for that space, but that’s what the dimmer is for haha. LED’s run peak efficiency at around 75% of peak rated current. Saves on electricity too.

Sounds awesome and about exactly what I was thinking. No way I’m scaling down, so being a bit OP is good for if I scale up. I thought about having multiple lights, but ehh. I want one good one for now.

Now I’m gonna have to get two. Lol. That’s a hell of a setup you have. If a things worth doing then it’s worth doing right.

@Outlaw Welcome to the Community!! Can’t wait to see where you plants end up with whatever new light you decide on!!

@Blastfact Thatsa helluva coolazz setup you got going there!! How long do you let the UV bar stay on each day? Do you only use it during late flower or do you have a different schedule? I’m interested in adding some UV lighting on my next run.

@Blastfact cool. Even 6-8 hrs is a lot of time. I was under the impression that 2-3 hrs a day would get the plants to add the extra defense trichs but any more than that would be counter productive. I’m real interested in seeing what you can pull off once you hit flower. I’m in the market for a bar soon. Good growing bro!!

On my first grow start to finish with a 350r. It’s powerful. I’m using a 2x4 tent, and the central ac is set at 75. I have no exhaust fans, or anything fancy like that. I just use a couple small fans on the inside, and one bigger one blowing air in from the outside. I’m running 235w right now, and staying between 79 and 82 depending on when the ac runs. Plants are doing great.

Welcome aboard. Seek a refurbished from them first i suggest. If need a different promo call them. They will give you 1. I think military discount also…not sure. That is plenty for your 2x4. Cant go wrong there.

Thanks for the info everyone. @Storm thanks for the bit about refurbs, saved me quite a bit of money. The rep was from the town next to my home town. Placed my order a few minutes ago. Unfortunately only one light so @Blastfact will still have the most baller 2x4 setup around.

@beachglass , thanks. I’m extra happy rn because somehow my light is going to be here between noon and 4 tomorrow. Not bad for standard $10 shipping…

Excited for you. The difference will be remarkable.

The ladies are loving this light. It’s at the third click (the second one that makes light) at just under 24". I’ll dial in the height and intensity over the next few days. Officially the first day of veg tomorrow so I got it right on time. I’d take this light at 20% over the one it replaced at 100%.

Saw some more about @Blastfact setup on another forum. I was already envious, but now you’re my grow guru. If I do well this grow I’ll definitely be investing a bit more and emulating your 2x4.

Case in point - that’s why it’s baller. ; )

Hey man I saw you pics and post where you bolted two 350RS together. Can you take some close up photos or sure how you did it buddy ?

I got the hook up on these light and got 2 myself. I like to know how you did it too.

This post and the next one gave me a notification for some reason. @Blastfact gave some info on how he attached the lights on up this thread. Read that and zoom in on the pics a little bit and you should be able to figure out exactly how he did it.

I think he basically tapped a couple holes through the heatsinks, put a couple little pieces of aluminum with matching holes on them and bolted them together. Looks like he just put the same bolts through the hangers that came with the UV30. You just need to do something that’ll keep them level and together. Doesn’t need to be heavy duty bc there won’t be much stress on it at all.

Make sure you’re looking at the dual 350Rs and not the dual 260 kit lights. He replaced the 260s with a 650R recently. He always has a badass setup going.
