Nope if you are looking to test bud the lowest price for anything worthwhile to have and be accurate you’re gonna have to break out about $2000+

I have the T-Check. They claim accuracy is +/- 3% for raw flower. And +/- 4mg/ml for decarbed flower based infusions. Cost is $400 for the complete kit that does both. They have a 15% off code (Check15)

Wow thanks newt that’s good to know and I’m gonna look into that in a bit. Thanks again

It’s accurate enough for my own purposes. I don’t think I could sell bud to a dispensary using the tCheck for potency testing - since +/- 3% is a broad range (18% thc could read 15 or 21), it takes a couple tests of the same substance to get a good feel for what you really have. That said, the tray is plastic and wholly reusable so testing the same bud 3x in a row isn’t difficult or costly.

I do wish it could test potency of butters and oils at higher rates than 15mg/mL but that’s mostly just a whine on my part because I prefer to make my infusions strong and use less butter/oil generally.

If I had the money, I’d have gotten a Purpl, and frankly I would have been disappointed. The tCheck has more versatility than the purpl with a much much lower price tag.

Do you find the #s are close to what is advertised? I know there are a lot of variables but if ILGM says THC up to 19% arr you seeing closer to the top end or way lower?

I’ll be frank, I haven’t tested many of my buds. I tested a CBD strain and it was fairly true to advertising, around 12% CBD. I got it mostly to test concentrates and infusions. But that said, I’m quite happy to test a few and see where they come out. I have a pretty well-cured ILGM Chocolope, Wedding Cake, and Zkittlez. We can see if I can grow anywhere near the threshold they advertise. :joy:

I would be curious about the Chocolope since this is my current Chocolope baby lol

When I get off work I’ll try to remember to test some buds and report back.

I have tested Blue Dream at 26% and GSC at 21.2. And while the BD is more than I see published, it is some very good bud. They both say up to 21%, so it appears to be close. But to test raw flower, you have to take a small amount of flower and weigh it, then extract with 99.9% isopropyl. You do that by shaking it in the alcohol for 5-10 minutes. And then you tell the device how much the sample weighed. Errors in weight would result in different readings, and I suspect the extraction time could as well.

Question, when they say THC level of 21%, what is this a percentage of, trichomes?

Total cannabinoids. It can’t differentiate between THC and CBD, for example.

Here’s that Blue Dream I mentioned:

Thanks @Newt. That is a question that I have had for awhile. So many terms and acronyms.

Beautiful BD @Newt did you have lower temps to get those colors?

Yes. That grow was harvested in January, so the temps in my basement were lower then.
