Help with starting seedlings

My seeds are not germinating but I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I use a tent and LED grow light and follow the instructions. I put the seed in a glass of warm water and store in a dark place until the white tail/stem emerges. Then I place the seed in soil about a i/4 down. I spritz it with a little water and turn on the grow light.for 18 hours and off for 6 hours. The light is the recommended 26 inches above the planting. I keep the area where I planted the seed moist. But nothing happens from that point on. I am about to try my 4th seed. What am I doing wrong?

How about a bit more information:

Welcome!

Keep light on 24 hr/day until they grow a bit larger. Then switch to 18/6
A heat mat under the… I am assuming… Solo cups.
What temp is your room?

I’ve and others on here have dug up germinating seeds to see what’s wrong… Just do it carefully.

Don’t over water

temps an average of 65. I’m not using a solo cup but a 3-gal planting bag. I’m told autoflowers don’t like to be replanted

65 degrees isn’t warm enough. You will have more success if the temps are 75+. As for transplanting autos, I did it without having a problem You need to be a little careful but I’d say your plant is better off surviving a little transplant shock rather than not surviving at all. One other thing, the soil also needs to be brought up to temperature.

May take weeks at that temp.
Seedling mat with dome for solo-cup should fix seedling sprouting issue.
Soil and watering next.
Good learning available here, on forum.
Not to start an arguement, but @lieons

1000 TRUE WATTS would warm your tent to 90 degrees Farenh.
100 China wats will take some time, keep it closer.

All purchased years ago, in prep for retirement.
Better lights available now. Vipar Spectra 1200 and HLG 350.
3- HLG 350R would out blast all the others, total and double the candle power, with only using a max of 1000 watts, (half my current load).

Nothing growing at 65 degrees today.

I’m a noobie too and had trouble like this. My temps were around 65 too and nothing was sprouting. Started over and moved my jiffy pots into the house instead of the garage so it would be warmer and got a dome and heat mat. Worked wonders. Now I can get a sprout in 3-5 days.

Just keep it simple. Get a solo cup and fill with moistened soil. Plant the seed directly in the cup about 1/4” deep. I don’t soak, or anything. Put a baggie over the top like a little greenhouse. Stick somewhere warm. Some people put them on their cable box. Needs to be warm though. Works every time for me.

where did u get the dome?

1-gal clear-blue-ish plastic jugs
Germination kit (mat light and dome)
The seedling mat is the key.
My clones love it, without the mat, no clones or seedlings are happy.

Insulating under tent helps for cold floors.

Mine came with my jiffy pellets, but you can get one cheap on Amazon or a lot of people use clear solo cups.

@DEEPDIVERDAVE that insulation under the tent is genius! I’m going to have to do that.

I use a standard 10x20" flat with a 7" Mondi Humidity dome. Great success using it for seedlings and clone cuttings.

A veg / seedling light sits over it and keeps it warm.
