Help setting up small tent perpetual grow

So, I need help in deciding on how to set up a perpetual grow. I am very limited on space, but I was able to cram 2 tents in a small closet.

I have GSCE x Do-si-do fem photo, and GDP fem photo seeds on the way.

Tent 1 - offbrand 30x18x36" - veg tent - light ACI s22

Tent 2 - AC infinty 2x2x6 - flower tent - light ACI T22 w/ S11 ionbeams and U2 ionbeams(UVA)

Both tents will have thier own seperate light control and humidifier.

Running a Y splitter off of ACI 4in inline with carbon filter in flower tent.

I wanting to keep organic and finish in 5 gal pots as that is what i currently have. I currently have FF Coco loco and NLS autoflower formula, as I started with an Auto before i decided to switch to photos.Want to use that before i switch to their original.

I guess my biggest question is, with the veg tent im worried about height as its only 36in tall. Once i zip tie up light to top and add pots its going to cut that down. Should i transplant multiple times up to the 5 gal? Should a grow a couple mothers bonsai style? What would be the best utilization of my tents?

I also will be using my flower tent to probably dry in as well

I never worry about my veg tent, it’s always crammed and messy.
i have my mothers and all the clones in there, I keep them there till a week before switch, when they go under the HPS (soon to be led) for another week of veg… that is if the previous batch is harvested and the tent is free, if not, and I’m early with my clones the veg tent is a literal jungle for a couple of weeks.
timing the clones with the harvest is the tricky part.

@outdooring If using 5 gal.pot’s I’m probably only going to be able to have 1 plant in flower at a time from what I have read. Just trying to figure out pot size and timing a little because I’m assuming if I veg for long even with LST she would be pushing close to the light.

Still learning about the whole having a mother and pulling clones. When I pull the clone how long does it have to veg or should it veg before flip. What size pits should I use?

I run 3 gallon pots. I keep mothers in my veg room in 1 gallon.

@Bracketh has you covered on ideas also.

If youre one tent is only 36 inches high i dont see it being of much use other than vegging one plant at a time. Also given the constraints of space you have lst would definetly be on my list must dos. I wouldntbeven pop another bean until the flowering tent is well on its way to being close to harvest. Probably about 4 to 6 weeks in to flower already strain depending. Im the king of popping beans too soon and no where to put them

@GreggT going to need to read through your journals again

sorry, I only do metric… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

clones take approx. two weeks to root, and then you decide what size you want them to be when you switch, always keeping in mind the stretch, so they don’t grow too big in your flower tent.
many small plants will yield more than one big plant, that’s my experience…

@ebb yeah the small tent i was planning on using only for veg. I guess trying to get a timeline. In veg tent - So go solo cup or nursery bag - transplant to 1 gal. Then transplant to 5 gal in flower tent. Should I veg longer once planted into 5 gal? Is the 5 over kill for size of tent?

Also probably just going to pop a bean at a time for a couple harvest before I start mothering and cloning. I do have plenty of seeds coming and not alot of space

If you plan on mothering and cloning i would suggest more space. A single mother can produce 100s of clones per cutting depending on her size and your needs. As well the mother doesnt stop getting bigger. On the other hand though, the mother doesnt necessarily need to be in a tent unless smell or visibility is an issue for your situation. Just toss her by a window and let the sun and/or a small led keep her in veg.

I stopped taking clones just for that reason. I can produce a sht ton of clones in days. Then im stuck with a sht ton of clones i have no room for. Just food for thought.

I would solo to 5 gal personally. Less work and stress on the plant

@Ebb Yeah, space is definitely an issue! And smell and visibility are another. So it sounds like just popping seeds for me is the way to go. Do you think i can veg in the 5 gal in the small tent? I’m sure it would take a lot of lst.

You would have to do a mock set up to be sure. Set your lights and the pot underneath and imagine a grow under it and the space needed for proper lighting distance. If all those parameters say yes then id go for it. But if any part says issues i wouldnt. Those 36" tents are more for germinating and clones i believe. Not meant to grow anything out to any notable size other than rooted

That helps tremendously! I wish i had more head room there. But its under the stairs so yeah. But I figured i could shave a couple weeks off by starting in there then moving to big tent

I would get a second fan. The peramiters are different for flower and veg. Also flowering plants put out alot of moisture so the fan will need to run longer and harder to pull that humidity so it will disrupt the environment in the 2nd tent.

I dont know about a perpetual harvest setup but I do know that with autos it takes roughly 12 weeks from start to finish so, you could always start new seeds every 8 weeks and be constantly moving new preflower plants into your flower tent everytime it empties. I tried to have many plants at varied stages in the same tent and what I ended up with was flowering plants with not enough DLI and vegging plants with too much DLI. It us very hard to give everyone exactly what they need when you have so many different needs to meet. Your almost always robbing one plant to give to another. Just my 2 cents.

I would worry about light leaks trying to do two tents in one closet.

36” could be a challenge and depends on the timing of switching them to the taller tent. You could always veg them under a T5 fluorescent fixture. I have a 36” veg tent and use a T5HO and a few inches above the canopies does no harm. Food for thought Growmie :love_you_gesture:

@Docnraq yeah the fan is going to run at a constant speed. As itnis always pulling 73° air from the house. 2 humidifiers one ACI T3 and another amazon special that keeps within 5%, with tweaking I can get to 3% fluctuations.
