Not sure where I should post this my Ph meter stopped working and due to covid 19 I’m finding it hard to get one until Friday, could I test my pH roughly with litmus paper until it arrives? My guess is its better than not checking at all right?
Welcome !You should be fine with the paper till you get your new Meter. It will get you in the ballpark…
Thanks already had some Ph troubles so had a small panic lol, new meter on order
Hopefully you get your Meter quick. I would not want to depend on paper long-term.
Friday seems to be the earliest anyone can get one to me so guess I’m stuck
I hope you bought a good Meter. Cheap ones you’re going to always be chasing the calibration.
If just watering this week, use straight R/O or distilled and you don’t need to PH. If your plant can get by til then that’s what I’d do.
Now I’ve stopped panicking, I will call some local hydro centres and see what they have tomorrow, thanks for any help or advice
It would be nice to find a test strip to test for everything with one instrument like my pool.
I was not aware of this until I bought a Bluelab: you should store your PH meter in a storage solution and never soak in distilled or R/O as it changes the glass bulb chemically, rendering it inaccurate.
So it should constantly be kept wet?
In a storage solution. Not pure water. But yes.
Just gone and done it, ph7 calibration fluid it is
