Help, my plant is down bad

looks too big for my little growbox

Ooo. I would avoid Amazon when shopping for a light
99% of the lights there are as bad or worse than what you have

lol  sorry my noob is showing, I have so much to learn but I’m enjoying the process, I hate I brought this grow box lol

dimensions I’m working with are 36" tall ×16" wide box

Let me tag the light specialist
@dbrn32 can tell you what you’ll need

Do you have a particular spending limit for a quality light?
That will help determine what lights are in your price range

Amazon SOMEtimes beats other online venues on the HLG prices. so it’s not BAD to check there

Yeah if you’re looking for a known trusted brand
Hlg, spider farmer, etc

I just had a feeling the OP was going to compound their light problems with a 3000w blurple

With how much she paid for her 3 lights, could have got a good hlg

Welcome to the group @sativamomma!! :clap:t2::clap:t2:

I definitely agree with others about the light. I also will question the temp of the water?
Your roots look like they got root rot, most likely the water being too warm.

Before you start your next seed, I would make sure you have a ph meter, tds meter, and a way to check the temp of your water. If your water gets too hot your roots will die due to root rot. Water temp 68-73 will be acceptable.

A better light or even if you can lower the lights you have, may work till you get a new light if you can.

Like mentioned above, give the dimensions of you grow box and a budget if you have one and db or someone here will be able to help you. Good luck! :+1:t2::v::sunglasses:

16"x16"x36"? I’m guessing it’s a square then, please correct me if I’m wrong.

If that’s accurate I would probably look at hlg-65.

100’s physically too big? i didn’t go check. that is a SMALL “grow box”. barely enough for one plant to stretch outward much

What happens during stretch in a box that small. Maybe a new solo cup challenge but inside the smallest box possible.

No, it should fit. But is probably more light than is needed if my guess is correct. I’m not completely sure though, I only seen 2 dimensions given for the box. Should be 3, LxWxH.

More air stones if you plan to keep using that reservoir. It’s hard to tell if that’s translucent or actually totally opaque - it looks like light is able to get into the reservoir, but I am just guessing based on the photo. You will want it to be fully opaque, which can be as simple as wrapping the whole thing in tinfoil.

You’re gonna want a PH pen, a good TDS/EC meter - the best of both worlds is to get a BlueLab or Apera combo meter. It will also tell you reservoir temp, which I’m also suspecting was probably a bit high based on how sad your seedling looks. Roots should be bright, clean white with little offshoots, sometimes white fuzz - once it starts darkening and turning brown, you’ve got root rot. Not impossible to overcome but a serious pain. I have a bucket and 2 air stones I can’t use while it soaks in bleach water after a mild case of root rot myself.

similarly, invest in some Hydroguard - it will keep a supply of good bacteria in the reservoir in case your water temp goes over 68° or any light leaks in for a short time. It won’t stop root rot if light leaks are consistent.

Finally, just to echo everyone else here - more light. I have a 35w LED exclusively for my seeds when they pop. It sits on top of the humidity dome - literally on the top - and it’s barely enough light to keep them from stretching. I got a pair of VS1000s - Vivosun branded LEDs. Truth be told they’re wholly acceptable, nice bright lights for 100w lights. But for the price of two ($260) you can get an HLG 260w kit ($297 but there’s a 10% off code) and have more light output. You’ll find similar situations with most other lights on Amazon - they’re an okay jump off point but as you get a handle on how much light a couple plants need, not very many compare to the HLG lights.

36×16×11" deep, small rectangle box lol im going to check out that light, thank you!

The 11" may be tight. Someone recommended qb135 kit above, that is bigger light than you need, but it will fit better and is dimmable.

if the 100 would be more light than needed wouldn’t the 135? or are you recommending because of physical dimensions between the 2 light fixtures? or the dimmable feature over the 100 model?

The hlg-100 is almost twice the size (LxW) than a 288 board that comes in the 135 kit. And the hlg-100 isn’t dimmable. The qb 135 kit physical dimensions fit better and the dimmable driver included allow the fixture to be dimmed to more appropriate power level.
