Help, my gelato seeds are not sprouting

I tried sprouting 2 gelato photoperiod seeds. I soaked them in water until i sew they break open and the tap root comes out, i then put them into a dixie cup with potting soil mixed with 20% pearlite, water the soil and plant them about ¼ if an inch under the dirt and cover with a ziplock bag with holes punched in the top. I put them into my tent which is 77 degrees with 70% humidity. I have had 1 sitting for about 2 weeks and another for 5 days. No sign of any growth. Ususally they will pop out of the ground in about 2 days but nothing is going on with these seeds.

You can vary carefully and gently lift back the soil and check to see if they are doing anything 2 weeks sounds like a dude unfortunately but 5 days is a little long but not out of ordinary especially is you only germinate in water then put in soil if for what ever reason they dont pop 1 contact customer support they will take care of you and 2. When germinating put seed in water for 24hr then into a moist paper towel inside of a ziplock for another 24hr then into soil i usually habe a 100% germ rate doing it this way its a trude and true

Lights on or off? I find my seeds pop up more readily if I leave them in darkness til they break ground.

Lights on 24/7 but they are under the soil. I did this at the same time as 2 zkittles and 1 supsr skunk and they are doing well with 3 sets of healthy leaves.

I’d soft thru the soil and find seed and see if it looks like it is doing anything. If u got from ilgm they will cover non germing seeds with new

Should get you to them. I had to contact once about a package - they’re stellar.

They will not be there until monday, but u can give them a text.

Thank you, i could not find the email

Never hurts to ask, but if seeds cracked and had tails they germinated, which is what the site guarantees.

This should also be pretty much slam dunk that you get sprouts though. The two things i feel most likely are too much water and contamination. Make sure when you place germinated seeds that you’re not touching them with unprotected fingers, i use sterilized tweezers. And growing media should be somewhere between dry and lightly moist.

Hey i dont use that method of germination i believe that soaking ur seeds kills them .Try this way theres no need to soak ur seeds at all Now what u want to get is make-up removel pads just the cotton pads Now what u want to do is place two pads on a plate now spray them with water now place ur seeds on the pads now grab two more pads place on top of the seeds and then spray with water now using plastic wrap cover the plate and put two small holes in the wrap and now place in a warm dark place with in 24 to 30 hours ur seeds will have popped and should have a nice tail on them

Isn’t that the same net effect as soaking them in water? Just wondering.

No because the pads arent soaking wet there damp and u dont have to soak ur seeds before u put them in between the pads

Some seed banks have specific germination methods to follow. If you do not follow their directions, the seed replacement guarantee is void.

How long should the little root be before i put it into soil?

Thank you, i never realized or considered this

@Silverfd as you see so many ways to do this very basic task…
soaking for a few hours helps soften the shell so the tap root doesn’t use a lot of energy to break out…but soaking more than this can damage the seed by drowning it…so if your seeds are very fresh soaking is not needed but if they are a bit older it just helps…then seeds in the moist paper towel between good heavy saucer plates and place in a very comfortable environment. and within 24 hrs you will have a tap root coming out and after 48 for sure it should be up to 1/2 inch in length and ready to be placed into position to grow.

I put 4 more seeds in to water in a Solo cup and one popped. I put all into a ziplock bag between a wet paper towel and put that into a coardboard box.

I wanted the taproot to get to about ¼ to ½ inch before putting into soil. Is that a good idea. When they popped open, the first 2 i tried to germinate i just put into soil and nothing happened before. The taproot was barely out of the shell. When i did this with 2 zkittlez and a super skunk they did well but the 2 first gelato seeds i tried seems to have failed.

So these are the 4 gelato seeds after 4 days. 2 seems like they are comign out of the shells. 2 look like there is white at rhe edges of the shell. None of the tap roots are really coming out of the shell. Should I put them into soil?
