Having issues with grow lights getting too hot, advice needed

This is my light by sansi. I raised the light to about 10 inches from sprout and seems to be ok heat wise. Not sure if that’s ok. I’m also confused if I should leave the light on 24 hours a day or I should turn it off for 6 to 8 hours or so. thank you so much. My first lil sprout. I’m so excited.

How long has the plant been above ground? If less than 2 weeks mist the inside of a solo cup and cover the plant this will keep the RH around 65-75% temps should be around 78-85 and water about 2-3 ounces around the solo cup dome every 3-4 days. Set the light about 4” above the dome :love_you_gesture:

from the looks of it, that light is 36 watts. Not real strong, but will work now, but won’t for the flower period. Why is it getting so hot? Who knows. The point is that it might burn down the house. And you will need more watts to flower one decent plant.

Thanks, im just using the light tell I transplant it outside. I’m still confused if the light should be on 24hrs/ day. It’s my First sprout.

It just popped up 4 days ago. Planning to use this light till it gets a little taller and then move it outside. I’m just doing one at a time till I know what the hell I’m doing lol I’m still a little confused about whether the light should be on 24 hours a day and that solo cup idea is pretty good. I’m gonna try that. Thank you :+1::+1::+1:

Yes run the seedlings under 24 hours of lighting :love_you_gesture:

You seem pretty knowledgeable about all this. I’ve been adjusting the height on my light almost every day. Trying to get to a normal temperature and something good for my little girl. If you have a moment, please give me your feedback.

Please ignore the background that’s just a little 22 that has been shot 15 years. That’s what happens to be in the closet.

That light is really not putting off a lot of heat, you need a way to exhaust the air in the cabinet. How many watts is that light, it’ll work for the seedling growth but you’ll need a better one to for veg and flower Growmie. Seedlings also require very little water and will absorb the moisture from the air through their leaves. I would recommend using a clear solo cup for a humidity dome. Mist the inside of the cup and cover the plant, remove periodically for fresh air and to remist the inside of the dome. Water about 2 ounces every 2-3 days around the outside of the dome to promote root growth and remove the dome once the leaves are touching the side. toss that soil meter and get yourself a good PH and TDS pen. That meter is very unreliable :love_you_gesture:
