Haven't grown anything since 1969...Need some help from the new crew

My plan, as a start…Indoors, no tent, reflective floor, SF 1000 light, 1or 2 5gal grow bags, FF Ocean Forest 80/20 worm castings, Dewalt fan, IGM grow charts…what am I missing?

Pot riser so you’re not letting your bag sit in the run off water. pH and PPM pens to check for issues when/ if they arise. Sounds like your trying to go organic, if not you’ll need to decide your nute line up. Fox farm from my experience needs cal/mag added almost from the start of grow. You need to feed 4-6 weeks into the grow when using fox farm soil.
Your light will only support one plant.

Just chiming in…I haven’t gotten a plant in nearly 30 years, and this forum has been extremely helpful in catching me up with the latest in technique and technology. You’re in the right place. Good luck!

Should have mentioned I have the FERT kit from PTG.

@GomBoo and be sure to have plenty of bud in your stash box so you’ll be able to maintain patience throughout your grow. Seems we all want an early chop. Gotta have weed to grow weed lol.

Exactly what @BigItch said. PH pen and PPM pen to make sure your plant is getting the proper feed. I learned the hard way :joy:

Your light will do one plant so take that into consideration if plan on more. Not sure about the nutes you’re using. A lot of folks including myself use Jacks 321. Easy peasy.

We be start’n two, if both kick off I have a neighbor that has a few in hydro with room for one more. I have a fert kit from pot for pot, that & my worm dirt mix, Ph/moist/light meters should get me go’n. Both of us re retired so time needed won’t b a problem.
POI from this grumpy old fart…a glossary of abbreviations that y’all use here would be a GREAT newbie perk.

Good luck, I’m still looking up normal street abbreviations :joy::rofl::joy: can barely read a text from my kids :neutral_face::neutral_face:
Moisture meters are useless. Get to know the weight of your pot and water when it gets lite.
Do not use a soil probe for anything

Here’s my take. If you’re gonna grow one … then you should invest and do it right. A 780 watt led light is a good starter . It will rock a 4’ x 4’ area. Get a fan and a tent. Ph testing is a must. I use the general hydroponics nutrient system in happy frog soil. Keep flower temps under 82 . Mushroom bag to supplement co2 and off you go. Here’s white widow at 5 weeks into flower (almost halfway mark)

Using Fox Farm Ocean Forest you wont need to feed for 5-6 weeks, but you might need to add some Cal-mag depending on your water source.

Humidifier + controller

Live on the Erie lakeshore…‘Organic’ water may be an option. Thoughts?
As far as the grow ‘room’, the only $$ so far is for the light, grow kit and worm dirt.
The DW has garden stuff up the yang.
GomBoo…old enough to know better, too young to care.

Well, she popped her head up on May 15th. She was transplanted into her permanent home this AM. She’s in a 50/50 FFO and worm castings in a 5gal ‘dish pan’. (reason, I’m vertically challenged, with 4.5’ tall grow tent.) Has anyone else tried this? Opinions…

@GomBoo as long as she’s got some drainage holes in there that pan will serve her fine imo

It does…:+1:

@GomBoo well she’s set to get to the growing!!

Well, we be pretty well set in our MacGyver GroTent from Lowes , (funnel for preventing over watering, started out at two fills this AM, monitor daily) :sunglasses:

Go bigger on light. 100w gonna frustrate you.

Week 10 SFSG…
