Harvest Time is a ways off, but what do I need to dry my bounty? WWAuto

I’m certainly fascinated and a lot more knowledgeable on how to grow cockleburrs. I think this is a lot homebrewing and I did beer 2 seperate times in my life and neither one was worth drinking. Let’s home this thing is smokable. LOL

I have an old coat rack on rollers with a wire mesh hat shelf. I plan on having it in an open, undisturbed area around 66 degrees. A dehumidifier, if necessary, but cmon, it’s winter.

I’ve heard of a scissor scrubber on Amazon. Are they worth it? Don’t know how sticky my bud will be. Scissors or snips? Bags or jars? Special techniques?

Have at it

No need for some special scissor cleaner. Dip them in Isopropyl alcohol when they get gummed up and they wipe right off. I use fiskars. They work great for trimming.

Bought this at Wally World for around $15

If you do get this super glue it together as your assembling it.

Nice. How many plants is that?

about 1/2 to 3/4 of a white widow auto, the buds were LARF so I bought a HLG 650 spider to fix that. Don’t scrape off the sissors and eat it, then go to town. You’ll wonder why you went to town when you get there!

@pillsbury Check out latest pics on Taking the Plunge. (my grow page) I’m having light problems with my WW and not sure what to do.

on the grow I did, I used 2 MH 1000’s, no tent, used a GH hydrofarm instead of soil. It was my first grow. I harvested too early, something that will come with experiance. I read your grow journal & learned a few things like your as crazy as me.

For those of us in parts of the world that still air dry their clothes we use a clothes drying rack :joy::joy:. Rubbing alcohol for scissors or a razor blade. I prefer jars but only after they’ve been hanging until dry. Fill jar 3/4 way up place somewhere darkish to release extra chrlophill (sp). Open jars once a day to burp. Longer the cure the better the smoke, but most of our stash never makes it to a full cure because well… we wanna get high.

I am on my first grow and harvested two days ago. Amnesia Haze auto flower in soil. I may have harvested a bit early but I was seeing amber trichomes and got excited! Also, I was hoping to avoid “couch lock.” I am using my grow tent to dry. I hung the stems to coat hangers using pipe cleaners; could have just used clothes pins. Keeping the RH between 35-45% with a dehumidifier. Trying to keep the temps at 60-65 degrees. My main concern is not drying “too fast” because it doesn’t allow for nutrients, chlorophyll, and whatever to wick out properly. I am a bit anxious; want this thing to turn out correctly! I used clean scissors to cut stems and trim the fan leaves. I’d suggest using jars for curing. It has been reported that plastic has a negative impact on weed during cure. “Special techniques” … prayer, fingers crossed, etc.

I’ve been using the trimmer scrubber last couple harvests and for less than $10, it was nice to have. I kept one trimmer in it and swapped trimmers as they got sticky. Sucks to clean so I just throw it out and buy a new one for each harvest. Very quick and good cleaning.

An easy way to hang your branches - clothes hangers and large binder clips

I’ve been using CVaults for the last few harvests and love them for the slow dry/cure after hang drying and before putting into mason jars for long term storage.

Gloves are good to have, I use nitrile gloves, nice to take a trim break and just pull the gloves off instead of having to wash up with alcohol all day.

And for long term storage, glass is the way to go. I like wide mouth quart size canning jars.

@Hellraiser have you ever put multiple stains in a single cvault for curing? I’ve got blue dream, Cali dream, Skywalker og, and black eyed Katy about 2 weeks from harvest (my first). I’m looking at a 21 liter cvault as the 4 ladies are large, my 4x4x8 gorilla grow tent is filled, buds look huge to me, but I’m a newbie and their my buds lol. I’d rather not buy 4 different cvaults, but being a newbie, I really want to taste the difference in my strains. I’ve read about people using nylon netting bags to keep strains separated, but since we have similar set ups and ive learned so much from your posts, I always wonder what you’d think. Going with the hangers and binder clips, may set up a hanger for the hangers using a 3.75 inch hollow pvc and some rope - hook the rope on 2 sides of the frame and should hang flat and even to prevent sagging - don’t think the 2 poles I hang the hlgs from will be enough… trying to figure out the logistics of cutting them down, moving them out of the tent, cutting the main trucks from the topping, and get them hung up on the binder clips back I side the tent after I take the hlgs out for temp storage. Don’t want to cut the trunk and just lay it on the floor, but want to cut all 4 ladies within a couple of mkns of opening the tent - about to just use the frame from a small 2x2x4 tent I have - 1 lady on each of the 4 sides. Anyways, thoughts on the cvault would be much appreciated!

No, I would not do that, it’s going to intermingle all the smells of the different strains into one, can be done but not ideal. That’s why I bought 4 CVaults, every plant gets its own CVault.

Thanks, it’s worth it to me to keep the taste from ally effort!! Appreciate you as always @Hellraiser !

Do you use oxygen absorbers at all in your jars?

By the way, nice inventory!

what do you think of using everclear instead of isopropyl alcohol for cleanup and cuttings for purity standards?

No, I don’t.

That would be great, I love everclear and always keep some around for cleaning pipes and other smoking devices and making tincture.
