This is my first successful grow so far and i am approaching harvest time. I have a microscope on the way to look at trichomes. I would like to do a flush and my question is when to start? I have read 2 weeks out from harvest is standard. I started counting when i first saw pistils, which by my count i will start week 6 of flower tomorrow. Strain is blueberry phototype. I guess i am just looking for someone with more experience to identify if i am accurate on timing. Also i have used neptunes harvest nutes, is it necessary to flush since it is supposed to be organic?
She has closer to 4 weeks a month remaining. Loads of white pistils and the pretrich maturity swell hasnt even started.
You will see most the pistils amber up then slightly recede as the calyx (buds) swell
I do a flush several days before harvest, but you will find varied opinions on this. Another way to do it is to simply stop feeding 2 weeks before harvest and let the plant pull the rest of the nutes from the soil so that PPM is low when you harvest.
I expect you have 3 to 5 weeks to go.
I can’t help with this question. I think @oldmarine is an organic grower. Maybe he can help here.
thank you. Good to know, didn’t want to start a flush too early.
What nutrient line up are you running? Or organic dry amendments?
I completely missd that. Good eye
It looks completely organic tho. Some good stuff! Water only the last 2 weeks should definitely suffice.
Yeah neptunes harvest has been really good so far, but i have no experience with any others. It was highly recommended though, so i figured i would give it a try.
OK @Lrf1417 , unless you have over-fetilized, flushing is not useful. Your buds will gain in size up till the plant stops growing or you harvest it. Your light works together with the nutrients to promote that growth. It stands to reason that you should not cut out correct levels of nutrients weeks before harvest any more than cutting light levels…unless you are trying to get one to finish sooner. And coaxing them to finish can be frustrating at best. I do flush one or two days before harvest then let’r dry out before chop. I’d agree with others here that you have several weeks to go. That’s several weeks of bud growth. Don’t succumb to EHS (Early Harvest Syndrome)!
Thank you for your response. So with three or four weeks left, should i continue the nutrients up till i decide to flush a couple days before harvest? They have been taking in the nutes as fast as i can feed them. Yes for sure no early harvest here! I have made it this far, no way im going to ruin it.
@Lrf1417 , I would. You can get this type of info from Dr Bruce Bugbee at USU. He is on YouTube. There are some things related to weed production that have been accepted practice, but in many cases in error. They’ve been studying both hemp as well as other cannabis crops at USU, with some great new insights. Hey, check him out while you wait patiently for fat buds! Enjoy!
Actually I just remembered, I’d do an ice water flush. Bugbee answered a question re periods of darkness before harvest. He said this too is fruitless unless the temps drop due to the darkness. He suggested cooler temps just before harvest was found to be beneficial. Thus ice water flush. But, I was attempting to get one to finish already, after 17+ weeks and an outburst of fox tails with white pistils and clear trichomes. So ice not required I like to experiment.
Those purdy girls are gonna plump right up within the next month.
You have way more than 3-4 weeks left more like 4-5 easy.
Like @6stringT said dont fall pray to the most common mistake new growers make. Early Harvest Syndrome
Those cola’s are gonna fatten up quit a bit. Nice job so far
