This is a blue dream autoflower, it’s on it’s 10th week from seed. To me the top of the main bud looks close to ready, I believe I see some amber trichomes, but the bottom part of this same bud looks like it has further to go. Can I get some opinions? And what do I do if only the top of this bud is ready? I also have a question about drying when it is ready to harvest. My climate has become extremely humid within the past week, 86% rh this morning. Temps are still low 70’s though. Any tips on how to lower the humidity in the drying area without purchasing a dehumidifier? I was thinking of hanging them in a large carboard box in the coolest part of the house and maybe put Damp Rid in the box? Thanks in advance for any help.
Trichomes always finish on top faster than below. The top gets the MOST light thus it finishes faster.
Thank you, do you think it looks ready?
I think I would wait a bit longer. BTW I love Blue Dream. Great choice.
Increasing temps will help to lower humidity. They are relative to each other. Lower temps higher humidity etc.
Yeah I tried it several months ago and knew it was a must grow. Thanks
Well done pretty plants!
Good to know, hopefully it warms up soon. Thanks
What happened to me…My first legal grow a year ago, harvest was this time of year. I put them out for some extra sun for 2 days before they were to be cut down while I was away, hearing the weather was supposed to be fine. Lost them all! Warm humid cool humid warm again. Mold took over in a day before I could do anything. From that point on I only grow indoors where I can control the humidity and only put them outside on dry sunny days if at all.
I’m in a high humid area Cape Cod and have the same weather situation currently but my plants are inside where it’s dryer.
FWIW, I 've read not all strains turn amber (trichomes) so you have to know your strains and with Auto’s good luck not much info out there, most info is for regular plant strains just keep reading & learning.
I’ve read you can top your autos and let the rest mature with no problem.
Me, I wait until it’s ready and if you flush then let it dry out, bone dry dirt, I read it pushes more resin back into the buds. A plant survival thing hoping to be pollenated.
I dry trimmed most of the fan and protruding leaves hung my harvest to dry in my office. Great conversation piece Haha It’s legal in MA. I use a cheap hygrometer also have a cheap indoor outdoor weather station that shows humidity in both locations, and purchased some humidity paks 64% on Ebay.
My inside was only 68-70% so I just let them hang, within a couple of days because the plants had dried out in the pots were ready for maturing in containers. I put the cheap hygrometer in a container for monitoring opened the containers twice a day for 3-4 days to fluff the contents & allow buds on the bottom to the top, about a week after is when I put the paks in to regulate the humidity watching what the hygrometer read. You don’t want the buds to dry out too much you want them to stay around 64%. The paks are cheap and reusable and self regulating.
Good Luck. If you use damp rid just monitor so it doesn’t get too dry because you’re drying in a confined area (box)
Iam in Illinois and have to had empty my dehumidifier twice a day now for the last week, this humidity is crazy
I am growing blue dream and it is 5 feet high, how did you manage to keep the plant so short?
