Hello all. First batch ever here (zkittles auto) and today starts the 8th week of flower. Please see picture. 2 questions here. 1.) think this looks only one week out? 2.) look at the bottom (popcorn buds) as they look much more immature than top buds. Is this normal? Is it common to harvest the top when ready and let the bottom grow more?
Oh so i have some
Time. I have these growing with chronic widow and those plants are tall. (See picture) so my light is high. Think that is what is effecting slow bud growth? I thought since its an auto it shouldnt matter much.
@MeEasy tagging you hear since youve been one of the many on thats been so helpful during this first grow experience. Anythoughts?
Hello @RandyMarsh lookin good. About all you can do is get a bucket or something to set your shorter plants on to get em up to the lights to help em ripen up. I’ve heard that you can cut the tops off and allow the bottom to grow I’ve said I’m gonna try it but never have. Once dry it would probably take a dozen popcorn buds to make a bowl lol. They all look happy in there you must have gotten the rh figured out
@MeEasy that’s exactly what i did just now! Things look much better now and yup rh is steady at 50 now. I didnt know if it would stunt flower growth if the top stem is cut but i guess its worth a try because i definitely would rather harvest some of the plant as soon as its ready. Im thrilled to be near the end. How many weeks do you think itll take from the top buds to be ready? .
@NavyVet420 were you referring to the whole plant being ready in 3 weeks or the pic with the top buds? Maybe its a little slow because it was too far from the light but i thought it wouldnt matter with autos.
There’s still lots of white hairs and the red ones haven’t started to curl up yet so at least 2 weeks is what I’m thinkin
Being so far away from your light is what was slowing it down
Makes sense. Rookie mistake of assuming autos can still make it in this scenario. At least they are slowly progressing. I think putting them on buckets will do the trick!
@MeEasy @SKORPION @NavyVet420 i want to tag more but can’t remember lol. But im almost in week 10 and took an updated pic. How long do you guys think? How long until i should harvest? The trichome pics are taken from the lower colas.

Heya @RandyMarsh looks like you are close, I’m seeing some amber in there but I can’t tell what is bud and what is leaves. You have to judge em by the bud parts and not the leaves.
@MeEasy Yes i am hoping plant 1 is finished by this weekend at least. Not sure if the amber like ones are in the leaf but i had my microscope dead over right in front of the cola so im thinking at least half what you see clearly are from the bud. Other than the amber trichomes you see, think the others are cloudy enough? The picture of the plant further away looks pretty sugary. Would you harvest by Sunday? Also what are your thoughts on plant 2? Regardless ill definitely post updated photos on sunday
It’s hard to recommend harvest looking at pics but I’m gonna say they’re far enough along to cut but if you like a more couch lock high you should wait a bit longer, plus buds will ripen at different times so make sure you are looking at more than one bud on each plant
@MeEasy yeah its tuff because i cant tell of the first one is blurry or cloudy. Definitely want more of a couchlock feeling. Think the second one is in good position as well to cut? Any tips for when i take new pictures with my microscope? Im hoping maybe in 3-4 days theyll ripen enough for me to have a clear enough view on this. The pics of the trichomes you see are from the bottom colas, so my guess is the top colas should be good to go. However, do you think its best to let the whole plant ripen together if only half the plant is ready? Or do you think its possible to cut half the plant and let the other half with the colas that still need time? I dont even know if this is possible… is it? Lol
Youre not that far away going by the pictures. A close up pic would confirm just how close you actually are. I would wait until you get your new scope. Be a shame to cut too early
Ill take a new pic this weekend. I took these actually with my new scope lol. I”ll take some better ones soon. Just excited to be close to harvesting my first grow haha
I agree with @Davyg @MeEasy you’re close. Is that a 30x magnifier? I’ve found that a 60x is what you need to really see the trichome heads up close.
You’re definitely close enough that if you haven’t flushed them yet you really should I’d give them 1 week max before you can harvest
Congratulations on your first grow, looks good if you continue each grow will get better and better. don’t be afraid to play around with topping fimming an training plants (spreading plants out). Your plant looks close to the finishing process. Good luck
