I’m interested to see how it works for you! Experimenting is fun and keeps us on our toes!
I’m not trying to convince anyone, just wanted insights on the idea I’ve had. I haven’t been convinced either that the plan is faulty as some people here strongly support. I’ve run the experiment with a few plants (2 in soil and 2 in coco/perlite) to find out if anything good or bad happens, and tried a trial concentration of H2O2 to test.
I assure you I care about root microorganisms and I don’t intend
to do them any harm
I haven’t seen it used outside of hydro or in seed germination. There are people here using it otherwise?
There’s nothing wrong with what your proposing… you just don’t want to add any beneficial bacteria because it will just kill them…
I know guys that do this in dwc to keep their buckets and resivor’s clean … works just fine…
Give it a go and see what happens…
Guys, it’s just an experiment. @gabarram is your soil high clay like I have? If not, your going to have to back down to a much smaller ratio or this experiment might not end well. I do admire anyone who’s willing to take risks. No pain, no gain is right. Who knows, it could make the plants go nuts.
I agree with @Covertgrower seems it would be unnecessary with the medium you are using
As you may have noticed, in the end I used a lower concentration from that I told in the first post, It was going to be 0.33% and ended in 0.2% H2O2. The concentration used is the same in both mediums, soil and coco because I don’t think I should work with many independent variables at the same time. I’ll repeat the same procedure every 4 days (I think this frequency ensures total decomposition of H2O2 in H2O and O2) and I’ll be keeping track of the outcome. So far the plants seem to have not even noticed the operation, they seem thriving just like they were doing before. I’ll keep you all informed of any changes I see.
By the way, in clayey soils the roots are suffocating and H2O2 gives the oxygen those need desperately, and that’s surely not the case in coco, but perhaps extra oxygen from H2O2 to roots in an aereated medium turns out to be beneficial for those plants apart form being more oxigenated than in soil. Anyway with such a low concentration of H2O2 I don’t think aerobic bacteria are harmed but the anaerobic and harmful ones.
@gabarram I have not, and I’ve never tried shrooms. I wouldn’t know where to start to try them. A little apprehensive as well mostly because I don’t know much about them. A person in town had a trip, and they seem like they were never the same after that.
Is there a source to order online?
Girl Scout Cookies and OG Kush were the most effective that I’ve found.
Still strain hunting, but what I have tried actually keeps them away. Which impressed me. Pharma only has medication to treat the symptoms. With terrible side effects.
Didn’t want to clog @jmorse28 grow journal.
@Covertgrower Grow journal? I wish. stupid seeds STILL haven’t shown up.
@jmorse28 I couldn’t remember if it was, but I just didn’t want to clog your post. How many business days has it been?
@Covertgrower 17 business days since it said they shipped.
@jmorse28 at the 25 business day mark, shoot them an email and they’ll send them again free of charge. Happened to me once as well. Second shipment made it just fine. It’s a pain, but at least they ship them again.
Hang in there my friend. My first order never arrived either. They reshipped no questions asked. The waiting sucks but ILGM will make sure you get them. I’ve ordered 3 times after and had no issues. Where are you located?.. roughly
I wouldn’t like to divert the main topic but if this helps you I’d not care about it. I’ve read of a woman “My main goal was to see if I could improve my focus, and if dosing could help rid me of my crippling migraines. I’ve had migraines for over 30 years, have tried every remedy you can think of (beta blockers, antidepressants, Botox, acupuncture, Topamax, cafergot), and my neurologist has all but waved a white flag at me. My most recent drug regimen involved barbiturates and muscle relaxers taken at the first sign of a migraine — plus lots of moaning and groaning.
When I mentioned my headaches to Dr. Fadiman, he pointed me to ClusterBusters, a forum for people who self-administer relatively large doses of psychedelics — typically LSD — in an attempt to relieve their cluster headaches. Cluster headaches, however, are distinct from migraines. But there was also enough anecdotal information online about migraine sufferers getting relief from mushrooms that I had to give it a shot. What did I have to lose?” The woman advised using microdosing of psychedelics (i.e. “1/100th of the expected pharmacological dose. In the psychedelic world, “microdosing” refers to taking teeny, tiny amounts of psychedelics such as LSD and ‘shrooms on a regular basis, to improve your day-to-day functioning. You’re not having a Hunter S. Thompson moment here. Instead, the idea is that you’re cruising along and generally feeling better".
You may order magic truffles (sealed in vacuum) from many places online to try. If this turns up good for you, growing shrooms is very cheap and easy.
@SilentHippie I’m in the northeast
The wait is rough. You may still see your order but the 3 orders I received were at my home in 10 days. My first order was seized, I believe, no notice or anything, they just never showed. The replacement order was in the box in 9 days. Trust us though, you’ll get them.
If you say they might help @gabarram I’ll look into it. You know the pain is just unbearable sometimes. Mushrooms are pretty straightforward how to grow. I appreciate the suggestion. I’ll try and find some of those truffles.
You’re welcome. The best wishes for u.
