Hello everyone. This is my 3rd time starting new plants. The first year I grew them out side and they did great. Last year I changed the type of plant and had no luck. I was sooo disappointed. This year I went back to the Bruce Banner feminized plant and Im trying to grow them indoor. I don’t have a tent or anything special to grow them in except my little grow room and a grow light. My light is a 1500 watt led. My seeds have sprouted and im very excited. Im open to any suggestions that y’all may have for growing plants indoor. Now that my seeds have sprouted how do I insure that I get the most from my plants?
Welcome to forum Shellbell
@Shellbell your soil looks saturated. Make sure you have plenty of drainage. Seedlings dont absorb water through their roots, but through their leaves. It is possible to drown the roots at this stage. If youll notice some of the babies are turning a bright green almost yellow. Allow your soil to dry out, in the meantime, place cups as suggested above to the seedlings can aborb the moisture in the air. Welcome to the forum lots of great folks here
@Shellbell do you need a run down of items youll want or need to make your grow as easy as possible? And are you on a budget for supplies?
Thanks for the suggestion. I actually have some Saran Wrap around the top of my planter to hold some moister in and it has drain holes in the bottom of the planter. I can take the wrap off and let the soil dry out some. Would that work?
Like the others have suggesteed i would transfer those to solo cups until theyre ready for thier big pots. That tray is shallow and youre not going to form the root base youre looking for.
Definitely on a budget lol. I’m actually just winging it right now with bits and pieces of information I’m getting. After my seedlings get a little bigger I’ll transplant them into a bigger pot. I’m only gonna grow a few inside and the rest are going in a pot outside once the weather decides to stay warm.
Ok well let me help you along a little bit to take some of the guess work out. The quality of your weed is firstly dependent on the quality of your lights. LED are the most cost efficient and productive way to grow currently. They cost a bit more to get started but your electric bill will immediately be all your money back in savings.
On average a single plant requires atleast 100 to 150 watts of LED minimum to achieve decent results. So for every plant you plan to grow expect about $100 to $300 per plant in lights. My suggestion for a great light at a bargain price is the sf1000 or the sf2000 by Spiderfarmer. It can easily grow 2 plants in a 2x4 for around 250$.
Youll need a good pH pen and Ec/ppm meter for measuring nutrients in and out. They start at about 20 bucks each on amazon. Cheap is fine to start but youll most likely end up upgrading by the next grow. Expect to spend around $50+ for a decent one.
Since youre growing in soil i would suggest getting fabric pots and ditching the old hardbody style planters. Theyre relatively cheap.
Oscillating fans to help build stronger plants and prevent mold.
A way to control humidity and temps is preferred. Since youre not growing in a tent that will be a harder issue to address but something as simple as a closet slightly modified can work just as well.
Pick a nutrient line and stick with it the entire grow. It will take some time to gain the confidence that what youre doing is the right way and figuring out whats working and whats not.
Plan ahead and prepare for potential issues before they happen. Basically buy more nutrients than you think youll need and always get more long before youre out.
Youll need Calmag, plan on getting some if you dont already have it lol.
I cant think of any other major things youll absolutey want or need at the moment. Hope this helps a little.
Thank you so much for the tips on what I need to get. I was actually thinking that I should have remembered the name of the bag of soil I
bought but I can’t lol. As my husband would say that’s the effects of the marijuana poisoning . I appreciate everyone’s help.
An excellent soil to start in is Fox Farms Happy Frog. Its widely available at most places that sell gardening supplies. Im a Hydroponics grower so if you need any pointers in the future when you plan to start that journey let me know.
I’d love to see how you grow using hydroponics. That’s pretty cool.
This is one of my current grows if you want to check it out.
I used that the first year I grew some. They did great. Last year the ones that came up were just punie little plants. Very little yield and I changed dirt to a very cheap Walmart potting soil. That’s how you learn what to do and what not to do. My plants are actually looking better. I got rid or the Serran wrap and put a little air flow and they have greened right up and are standing tall. At what point do I need to put a timer on my light so they are only getting 12 hours of light or does that really matter?
I checked them out and those are pretty plants. I bet they smell wonderful. I love the smell of a pot plant.
Citrus, diesel, and lemon/grapefruit are the most notable. Skunk according to my wife lol.
Definitely taking off the serran strap off and putting a fan on them has made them look better in a couple days. I’ve just been spritzing them daily.
Hello @Shellbell spraying like this can lead to yellowing seedling, growth stop.
Info about ‘damping off’
Want the roots to grow out lookjn for water and food. The water running down the plant and down the stalk can soak the young taproot and rot it. Water the soil when she’s big enough or spray mist domes.
Nice start. But you gotta seperate the girls really soon, like yesterday lol. It will help to water in a ring around the plant and not on the stalk itself.
