Growing in doors during the winter?

Hello I’m a new grower , I’m planting now in containers (outside). I live in New England , it’s a farmers town. In the winter months we heat by a wood stove, all winter!! My husband came across a old growing lamp, the name on it is called “Areogarden” and the light can by adjusted to about 36 inches. My question is , Is anyone heard of this “Areogarden” and do you think I could use this to grow one plant at a time during the winter? What is the smallest cannabis plant that I can grow? I’ve done some research of this lamp and didn’t find out much , they still sell Areogarden lamps but are a lot different. I do have a closet that is near the stove so heat really isn’t a problem but I was wondering if this lamp could be used to grow. It definitely would be great for germination and seedlings but I could really use some feedback from some more experienced growers. All and any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You very much;

Not sure about the lamp, I’ve heard of AeroGarden’s, but not an AreoGarden lol I don’t know if they’re actually different or what.

A’s far as growing indoors during the winter, I definitely recommend you give it a try. As long as you can keep the temps between 50F and 80F, you can successfully grow weed indoors!

And theres not need to look into what plants grow small. All you really need to do is learn the training techniques, and pruning techniques and you can grow any strain into any size that you really want to. LST is important when growing in a confined space.

I spelled it wrong , lol, it is AeroGarden’s and keeping the temp between 60 and 80 is no problem , the wood stove is in the same room as the closet. I need to do some reading on indoor growing. Do you think I can keep the plant kinda on the small side if I grow in a 3 gallon container?
Thank you very much @ktreez420 for your help and knowledge !!!

Sorry I asked about plant size , I replied to your post before I read the next one. I’m going to do some reading on pruning techniques.
Thank you so so much @ktreez420 for your quick reply, I love this forum , everyone on here is so willing to help !!:grinning:

Yea you can keep a plant as small as you would like it to be! You can top the plant, LST the plant, and by using these techniques you’ll be able to keep the plant small.

When you say small, what are we talking about here lol? What size is your closet? Because remember, a 3 gallon pot will sit about 8"-10" off the ground, and then the lights you use will take away from the ceiling height of your grow area. Just little things to keep in mind!

And no problem MB, I always like to help out whenever I can!

I’m not sure I’m your light question but I grow indoors during the winter only and have a wood stove about 12’ away from my tent. As long as you have descent ventilation you should be all set. The wood stove actually helps keep my humidity down as well. You shouldn’t have any issues if you get ample ventation.

The closet is about 9ft by 6ft with a crawl space in the back about 9ft long and 4ft high but that can be blocked off. Its very dark and actually we don’t use it much. We have so many closets and crawl spaces thoughout the house, I have 10.5 acres. Many years ago this was a farm !! Thank you again @ktreez420 for helping a OLD Lady out !!

hahah my pleasure MB!! And I’m jealous of your 10.5 acres!

You should have no problems growing some exceptional weed in that closet! I grow in a 5’x5’ tent that only has a 6.5’ ceiling. So after you take away the lighting space, and bucket space, I’m left to grow 3’ plants in my area. It’s all about training and pruning!

Any strains in particular you were thinking about?

Taking care of 10 acres of land is a lot of work @ktreez420 , even thought most of the land if overgrown and trees , it takes me 3 hours to mow the lawn and that’s with the wide ride-on tractors. There’s always something that needs to be done. Taking care of the property is a full-time job in it’s self and we have a hired help. But it is beautiful and peaceful , our nearest neighbor is more than an block away.
I do appreciate all the help and support on this forum, I think I should of started growing a long time ago!!

Well said @Hogmaster
I have a aero garden also but have given up on it for Mj
You can do it but may not be cost effective fun to play with but your yields will be much smaller imo
Andthose who have continued to grown with it had to remove the light and add extra lights I can’t exactly remember all who did but I’m sure if you do a search on here it will pop up
And as hogmaster stated we are here if needed just tag us

If you have a closet space you can use you don’t nescearily need a tent, you could just set your closet up and have great results. If you did purchase a tent though it might make it easier to be able to keep a more stable environment for them to grow in. I would think a 36"x36" tent would be ample for 2 plants. Although I would look to the future as well it might make Sense to go bigger in case you ever wanted to do more than 2 plants at a time.
But again you can set your closet up so you could take that money and put it towards something else for your grow.
Everyone is here to help one another out so don’t hesitate to ask any questions. The only stupid questions are the ones that aren’t asked. :+1:

Actually I was thinking about WW or strawberry kush, not sure though. I wanted to wait to see what is goes on sale so I can grow the extra seeds in the spring ,in containers , outside.what do you think ? It’s funny that the grow journal was a WW.
Thank you again, that GJ will help me a lot @ktreez420

WW is a great strain. That was my first grow (and my current grow) I believe they have a deal on WW currently (or at least I think they do buy 5 get 5 free or something like that) even if you purchase more than you are going to use right off if you store them in a cool dry dark place they will last a while. My current grow of WW are from seeds I purchased from ILGM 2 years ago and all 5 I germinated are going strong.

My mother always told me that since I can remember, LOL !!! I don’t want to invest to much money on this because next summer my husband is putting in a greenhouse for me , not just for weed , I love growing everything. My friend, who lives about a quarter of a mile away has two greenhouses and we grow organtic herb, like tyme, rosemary and many many others. She only grows herbs and theres very limited space so there isn’t any room for flowers or veggis. So after next spring I’ll have a AWESOME set up for growing weed in the winter. Thank you very much for your post , it is very helpful, I thought I had to grow in a tent if growing inside. Thank you again @Jmesser80 for your help !!

Thank You @Countryboyjvd1971 for your reply, I have done some reading on the Aerogarden and it seems a lot of people have stopped using it but I’m going to keep reading all I can about the light. I’m pretty sure the light can be can be removed so if I need to raise it higher I can. I was reading a growing journal that someone has posted using the Aerogarden and they bought a reflecting blanket that is used by outdoors to keep warm and he wrapped the blanket around the plant so the light can reflect back, so there is one idea but I’m going to keep researching . Thank you again for your two cents , I appreciate support and help !! :relieved:
