Grow light hours

How many hours of light/dark for a non autoflower plant?.

How many hours of light/dark for a autoflower plant?.

Is a grow light always supposed to be 18 inches above plant?.

How many hours of light/dark for a seedling?

Hi 18/6 until you want it to bud, then 12/12.
18/6 its whole life. Rarely auto genes dont ‘work’ and will need 12/12 to bud.
No but 18" is common, youll adjust.
Seedlings can use 24h light, 18/6 is common.

I run 20/4 for my vegging fems, and then 12/12 for flowering.
On autos I run 18/6 to whole time.
Seedlings I do 24 hours of lights for the first week, and then go to above schedule.

What is the reasoning/determining factor that a person uses to make a plant bud, besides " wanting it to bud"?.
Does the plant begin to show some type of sign, or some special look?.
Or can a person grow plants 20 feet tall and then one day say " yep, I think I’ll make her bud now?. And then yield 40 pounds of weed on the 20ft tall plants.?.

Just wondering, I gotta make sure I get this right. Ain’t never grown before.
Thanks for the input.

Yeah how much space, it may double in size when flowering.
Or if in a hurry flip young. More smaller plants.
And they wont start to flower til puberty, even if at 12/12 from the start. My experience has been puberty by 3 to 5 weeks. Shows by white hairs growing from bud sites, I’ll try to find a pic…

I 100% agree with Jay on this one. I flip my Fems at 4 weeks because they will outgrow my 72" tent if I don’t.

If I had unlimited space, I’d veg for several weeks and train that girl to hold a lot of weight. :muscle:

My space W-38" L-48" H-6’8".

But according to the forum this means I only have about roughly 52" of grow height once I subtract 12" for pot and 18" for the light.

Which mathematically there is 30" that is not growable.

So this begs the question:
How tall would a person want their plant to veg before changing light cycle to flower when they only have technically 52" of grow heighth

You might want to look into getting a SCROG net to manage height better. It helps to keep the canopy more flat and control the branches’ height by tucking them under the net constantly so they grow horizontally instead of vertically.
