Grow light experts?

Hey guys, I was using a 400 W Metal Halide bulb for the first 4 weeks and when my Autos started to flower I changed to a 400 W Super High Pressure Sodium bulb. The MH bulb is a very intense white light. The HPS bulb is a very orange color of light. Both bulbs came in a kit along with the fixture. Is this the best combo for growing? My autos seem to be doing well but my photos are not yet flowering.

What schedule of lighting are you using.
Photos need 12/12 to flower.

18/6 initially but when I switched bulbs I went to 12/12.

They will when mature enough. Autos can flower as early as 3 weeks
Photos may take 5 to 8 sometimes more before they are mature enough to flower. Plus it will take 10 to 14 days to see buds once you flip a mature plant to 12/12.
If you hold on they will come along in due time.
Make sure you have complete darkness.

This question is loaded. In the past, yeah probably. I think LED lights have made the hps/mh bulbs obsolete. The old bulbs create a ton more heat, use potentially 100’s of watts more energy to run and the bulbs themselves are not only delecate as a ballerina but cost more then a vegas call girl.
