From what I know in making butter or coconut oil . You first need to decarboxylate the flower first … once that’s done your all set to make some stuff … ( you can also use the same way to make to make topical s FYI and it don’t matter if it’s THC or CBD they have different affects on the nerves but will not get you high . ) For pain relief nerv pain inflammation in joints you won’t be doing back flips but it will get you moving
Good Luck…I have a LEVO and watched a YOUTUBE video on making tincture with MVT oil and EOS alcohol …have not made anything with butter yet…
@Newt does that stuff he should be able to steer you right.
CannaCaps are fairly easy, and you don’t have to worry about how they taste. I decarb and infuse 1 ounce of trim into 1/2 cup coconut oil plus 1 tsp lecithin. Then I use fill size 00 gel caps using one of these:
I just finished making first oil from first grow. I didnt want to purchase a bunch of equipment until i had some experience. I read everything i could about keeping it simple. So i bought 15.8 oz bottle of mct oil on amazon. I decarbed 2.5 oz mostly dry good trim. After decarb it was 1.8 oz. I put all the oil with 1tsp lecithin oil and all 1.8 oz trim into crockpot on low 3 hrs. Then next day turned back on to low for another 3 hrs, off for 4 hrs then back on low for another 4 hrs. I let this cool for about an hour then poured into cheeseclothed strainer. I squeezed that out pretty good and licked my fingers. Taste was kinda popcorn ??? Not unpleasant. I put a coffee filter in each of 2 mason jars and folded it down over the rim and secured with a rubberband. I poured half of the oil into each coffee filter for another strain and its still dripping. It’s going to give me 10-12 oz infused oil. I got a slight buzz from licking my fingers!
Take a piece of bread, use it to wipe all the residual oil from the crockpot, eat the bread, and make sure you get to your bed before it hits
@Beck I didnt think of that! Would have been better than licking my fingers. The buzz got even better as the night went on. Just right! My lips and tongue got slightly numb so i think this oil may have some transdermal properties. I didnt expect that. I think the calculator @Newt recommends is pretty accurate. It estimated the oil at 92 gm per tsp and i would guess i consumed about 1/8 tsp, or 10-12 mg…just right for me. That makes dosing estimates easier.
Nice! Let the good times roll! And yes it makes excellent topical as well. Just don’t let’s your pets lick it if you have them
That’s where I’m at – the butter stage. I have lots to learn. @Newt gave me some good threads here and other info. Just need to sift thru it all.
I follow @Caligurl. I’ll check out the other. Thanks for the info.
You’re so amazing my friend. You always steer me in the right direction. Thanks a million. This is cool.
This is really cool – and sort of what I’m looking for. The alcohol extraction equip. is so incredibly expensive. Have you tried it not that it’s in the jars? How will you use it? Did you see @Newt 's response to me about the capsules? I think that’s pretty cool.
Where can I find the calculator you’re referring to?
Ha…i got my info from @Newt as well. The calculator is fairly accurate. My oil turned out great but there was 1/2 cup loss of oil in the crockpot process. I’m sure good equipment would would give better results/less loss. I’m making gummies on friday and im planning to make 2ml gummie cubes, estimating 12-15 mg, which would be perfect for me. I’ll let you know the outcome in a few days. The calculator estimates by teaspoon, so you could increase/decrease dose if you know the quantity the recipe will make. I haven’t tried the caps. Maybe next project?
I love my caps. No taste, no smell, discreet, and they work well.
Thanks @Newt – hope you and Mrs. Newt are well today.
