I got some green algae in one of my solo cup seedlings. I ran out of colored cups and was lazy. I just bought them but now I have green algae to deal with.
Can someone give me some advice?

It’s getting light there. Looks like you have enough roots to transplant.
I know the light caused it. I was wondering what I could do to kill it.
Yah dont use clear solo cups use red ones
I plant in clear cups and put the clear cup inside the colored ones so you can see root growth. It’s a common practice.
Ive only ever seen people using the red ones and its easy to tell when its time to transplant
To each their own.
You’ll have to do something to block the light. What? I don’t know. I’d transplant it…
I got more colored solos this morning. I stuff the clear in the colored.
I think just blocking the light will do the trick. Same as taking away light from a plant. Maybe duct tape the cup? Wrap a black T-shirt around it?
Hey NYDon! I get my clones from my supplier in clear solos. I have seen her setup and it is all clear cups but we have low humidity here. Like you I just pop them into a colored solo until I plant in fabric pots. I like the clear cups because you can really see the roots and their development.
I think once you transplant the algae will die and will provide more organic mass to your soil. I am definitely not an expert and I have not experienced algae so I am just proving a possible scenario.
Best wishes to you and you grow!
When u slide the root out of the cup u can prolly use it finger and brush most off then plant. That little touch will not hurt anything in the soil as long as there is none exposed to the light when it gets wet to spread it. Burying and soaking the soil will rid of the problem most likely. I’ve had it on top of the soil from being moist and light hitting it. I just lightly scraped it loose and shop vac it off and replaced coco with fresh new stuff. Haven’t seen any since. I’m sure u can knock off most by brushing it off tho. Good luck. Clear solos are use by alot of people also and they do the same by sliding the clear cup into a colored cup to hide the roots. U can always use duct tape and make a sleeve to slide the cup in with paper or something to keep the light out. Does look good to transplant tho before the root ball wants to start twisting up tight. U want them roots to shoot thru the pot so transplanting now I believe would be alot better than waiting longer and then twisting and bunching up more in the cup. It’s up to u tho as it’s ur grow. Looking good tho.
