Got my seeds, now what?

I have a Supercloset. When they first started, I bought the dual closet system that used 6" Rockwool and Ebb and Flood. I just purchased a 16 pot super duper 16 space 3" netpot system complete with top feed, bubbler and DWC. They have told me I can place a seed in the 1" rockwool cube, and just let her rip, seed to finish. I have a seedling starter and mother area, a vegetation area and of course the Flowering Closet.
Once I get leaves, I believe I will be ok, just don’t want to screw up the beginning. Installed a reverse osmosis system which took my well water from 560 ppm, to 26 ppm, and if I do 12 gallon pure, 13 gallon tap, it should be in the 200’s then adjust the PH.

Is it as simple as put the seed in water til taproot, then place in 1 inch rockwool then into the cradle to grave system, or do I need to do the heat mat and the starter humidity thingy first?

I’m aware no nutrients to start, then a little, then 1/2, then only full strength during flowering, or so that is what I believe to be true.

Thanks in advance for your advice.

Germinate by soaking in water with 1/2 teaspoon of peroxide for 24 to 48 hours then use the paper towel method is how I start. I can’t help on the rockwool , I don’t use it. Nutrients will all depend on the medium you use.

From my very limited experience, seed goes in water… never tried peroxide. Get’s taproot, Transfer to 1" rockwool cube surrounded by Hydroton rocks in the netcups.

Sorry that I was unclear

I start em in water for 24 hours
Then paper towel 24 more
U see taproot, u plant seed in medium.

Here are a couple of hydro guys. Feel free to scavenge their threads n pick their brains.

@peachfuzz (king of the hydro, runs multiple diff kinds of systems including ebb n flow) @bryan (also smarter then me) i think @Grandaddy013 (get used to it)

I usually grow from clone…
But I need to start a mother , so I use 1 inch rockwhool cubes to get them started and than into a solo cup with hydrotone with an ebb system , no flow …lol
And move them up to different systems as I go…
But once I start cloning I don’t use any media…
Just neoprene collars and water from clone to harvest…
I will tag you to my thread if you want… ?
Lots of good info , just scroll to the top… :+1::wink::grin:
@Budnovice
@PurpNGold74 you give me too much credit…
But if you ever want to go hydro , I got your back…
If you can control your temps , I’ll get you growing easy my friend… :+1::wink::grin:

Happy to be tagged. I plan to sprout 5 seed, hold 5 back, create a mother, finish 4, then use all 16, if needed. Was told 4 hydro plants will produce the same a 16, as it is the area that is important.

They do not produce 4x what soil plants will, the yield will be very close to what you would get in soil. They do however normally grow faster in hydro setups.

That was 2 days ago , I’ll get one from today to show what 2 days can do.

And for contrast, these were all seeded the same day.

@Budnovice you have any pics of your system? Ebb and flow is a great system and should work well, just watch for root rot.

soak rockwool in phd water for a few minutes, shake out the excess water make small hole in top about a 1/4 " deep. Place seed in hole. Place cube on a small plate and set a clear glass over it. Put that in a cupboard and check it by lifting the cup each day and looking. The seed will sprout and without any further disturbance you can keep it slightly damp until it shows a tap root coming out the bottom. This now rooted plant can be then placed in the hydroton in your net pots. Seed shouldnt need any extra steps to germinate if its viable.
Oh after you place seed in the hole, take some small rockwool fibres and gently stuff them in the hole and that will keep light off the seed till it pops!

So, I installed a R/O because my water was 500-550 TDS. R/O’d water is 20. Add ph equalizer, made it 34. 24 hours later, seeds have split, showing beginning of tap root. Tomorrow morning, I will soak some rockwool and get it going. Forgot I had 10 seeds, and 10 free, so I am doing the first grow with 10, then in two weeks, or when my first 10 are solidly vegging, making a canopy… I am guessing about 18-24 inches high, I’ll start the other ten.
I’ll need to figure out if I need a mother then, or after 1st harvest, when I am about to transfer the second veg to flower, if I’ll risk my hand at 16 cuttings and order some of them there neoprene collars y’all mentioned.

Add another week in there. I try to stagger by at least 3 weeks when starting seeds en masse like that. Helps me mentally. That close and some will straggle along while others explode. And 20 plants sounds like some work. Be ready for it
