Gold leaf and gelato outside in VT

2 day growth 2 plans over 4 1/2 inches themselves. All now over 3feet my white caddie girl didnt get fed with others just cal mag and h20 and the main stem stretched 4 inches over night.

Oh and they smell could smell them through the French doors this morning around 4am.
And the sun us coming up later and later every morning. My daughter is bummed cause school vacation is half over already. Gonna be trimming buds and sneaking out early am for some bow or in my case crossbow hunting.

So I found some hitchhikers in one of my gelatos this morning. A bunch (7-10) sunflower seedlings growing into my roots. I guess the damn birds are so messy the seeds fell into my plants and some started growing. Which kinda cool, an amazing that those seeds were actually alive.

Just waiting for sun to go on west side of house so I’m not trying like a egg on a city street.

@Drinkslinger that rain last night helped out alot they were quite dry with the high 80s low 90s and humid as all hell yesterday. And they are doing just fine in there new home only thing is I wanted to see the suns effect on my plants today but it’s completely cloud covered.
On the bright side added a few inches of rain water in barrel.

Although they do have more room than it looks like the pic isnt showing that well but I’m going to get them more spred out.
Also got another good 3 hr rain storm this morning so they are heavy with fresh water from mother earth. And I got back up to 3/4 of a 55gal barrel of rain and spring water. Its rained alot this 1/2 summer I havent had to get water from spring since the 1st snd only time to fill it. And they take 1gal every day or 2 in this hi heat.

Giving them a bit more room.

I super crop the front left main stem to see if I’ll get the same amount of growth as I did on the other gelato i did. I did a gold leaf this time.
The stem was hanging its head like it’s got to much water and when i grabbed it by the stem it just crushed in between my fingers. So idk if it’s good or a bad thing yet. They have gotten a good amount if water in the last 48 hrs and they all seem to be stretching for the light. But no change in light amount from my end. It’s been partly cloudy all day. We will see.
Honey, clean & sterile cooking skewer (sterile means not used) and electrical tap. It worked on gelato will it work on gold leaf…

@Drinkslinger I know we are relatively close ( in the Rut or down town Vegas) :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
I was wondering how offten you have been watering your plants? Cause of the heat. Cause if it dosent rain for more than a hour I’m watering almost everyday either early cause they are dry or when the sun is low enough st night to water cause it was 80°+ the whole day. I’m worried I’m not doing enough or is it normal?
I’ve not been jamming the nutes like I do on my indoor. Same schedule just every 2 weeks instead of once a week. Cause of the longer life outside. They are loving all the heat and sun and the nutes that they have got. But if I’m watering everyday would there still be a build up of salts (I use all fox farm known for salt build up.)?
Idk I’m leaning towards yes it still builds up but I’m not sure at all. 1st real grow od.
@PurpNGold74 I ask u to about the nutes question as well.

Over an entire grow im pretty sure there are a couple buildups when using synthetic nutes. Id flush as recommended by manufacturers. Or at least right after flip, any deficiencies, and before harvest

Ok that leaves me with another question…
When do you know when its flipped to flower on outdoor? Is it just the growth spurt and the hairs starting to show?

You’ll start seeing the change in August. I start seeing preflowers around mid August, and full on flowering by the end of that month.

As for watering, the plants are big enough that they umbrella over the pots and prevent most rain from hitting the soil. I water when they look thirsty, a give nutes now about 1/wk.

I use Earth juice nutes and a blend of fox farm ocean forest, happy frog, and perlite. The nutes are basically organic and I try to promote healthy organic growth. I don’t need to flush, but if you’re using fox farms nutes I’d probably give a good flush with lots of fresh water by the end of this month.

@dbrn32 used to use it. It was Omri rated until the standards changed.
I use the big 5, as well as their oilycann (n free cal mag), godsillica, guano, hygrozyme (not an ej product), and molasses.

You mix the nutes at different ratios for different points in growth, brew them like a tea, then apply.

Ahhh. One day… sounds like the next stage in my nute growth development :joy:

I liked it, but it’s kind of a pita to use. Unless you’re specifically looking to go organic I would look at getting into one of the lower cost dry powder blends.

Is any one use Bergman’s nutes from ilgm?
I was interested in another regamite that dosent leave the salt residue from fox farms. I’ll use it till it’s gone but I love there soils. Just not flushing every 4 weeks.
