Glasses for when you're in your glow room

I’ve been thinking about the lights we use in our grow room and after talking to a few folks on here it got me thinking. How many growers on here use protective glasses and is there a specific thing we should be looking for in those glasses. It was @latewood that mentioned protecting our eyes when under these lights. @dbrn32 do you have any thoughts on these glasses or maybe point us in the direction of someone who would know

I wear glasses when I’m in there for a short time but I turn the lights down if I’m going to be in there for a while

What made you go for the glasses that you bought

400-700nm light isn’t particularly damaging to your eyes. But at high enough intensity anything could be. I usually just dim my lights when working in my space, and avoid looking at the light. If you have UV, or no way of reducing light intensity, you should probably look into some protective measures.

@dbrn32 there’s no uv yet but hopefully in the not to distant future there will be :sunglasses:.
@Oldhippy I do wear glasses. Just wasn’t sure if there was a specific frequency I needed to be aware of. I know those lights are super intense, just wondered if there had been any studies done or anything of that nature advising on grow lights and protection from them. I have 4 QB260 rspec in there and they are bright :scream:. I will see if google throws anything up :face_with_monocle:

I also wear glasses.I have a pair of the UV glasses but I cant see anything up close with them withOUT my glasses so they arent much help.Just something to consider…

Gidday mate. Running hlg with uv wouldn’t stick my eyeballs in there without me sunnies. Method 7. Make all different lenses to match all different lights. $ well spent

Thats a good shout actually. I will have a look at something that maybe fits over or clips onto my own glasses :face_with_monocle:

I do wear the protective glasses and avoid looking directly at the light , purchase mine on eBay think about 20 bucks.

Yes method 7 makes nice looking shades lol. Have it for led hps mh uv make sure u get the right pair for what u have lol. I jave hlg loghts ordered the scorp diablo they sent a pair with the light. Nice glasses for sure a 60 dollar value also. Any shydro store by u shpuld carry them also for a smaller price than online prices

Might even get a deal using a code if u can find one. Dude works for lights i know not sure on other stuff. They seriously work great in the room light on full and u can look at the light without any problem.

Don’t be fooled. My kid just wants to make sure I don’t go blind and can keep growing weed. So she can have a cheap source :joy::rofl:
