I made a cover for my outdoor plants last night with so PVC pipe and only thing I could find at HD was a burlap tarp , they say we might be getting into the triple digits here in a couple of days and dont want all of my work to go down the drain , in the past I had tomatoe plants failed from the extreme sun conditions in my backyard, I have a question for you guys should I put this shade up in the afternoon b4 work? , what kind of program should I get into when the heat comes? thankyou .
Sativa’s tend to be more heat resistant but a shade doesn’t hurt so long as you have good airflow to keep hot air from building
I would also like advice on this subject. I’m also 1st time grower. I live in nor cal where it is going to be in the mid 90 degrees all week. I read in the outdoor grow guide that my plants should be getting as much sunlight as possible to help growth. I don’t want to fry my babies, all about a month old and starting to flourish. Thank you
This year is my first for outdoor cannabis in a long time but I have vegetable gardens every year. The TX heat gets nasty in the summer. I use a sail cloth (bought it in Costco) that is a screen for the sum. It is triangular shaped and screens but not blocks the sun. It drops the temp on my porch over my tomatoes 10-15 degrees in the summer.
Look on Amazon for Coolaroo sun shades or Coolaroousa.com
Hope this helps. Jerry
SourD, the more I been reading I agree , my Girls havent shown any stress for the sun yet and are flurshing drematicly so far, I been keeping the soill damp as posible and keeping a eye on over watering , I will be putting the shade back up when we do get in those triple digits and as you know living in Cal its coming , good luck with your girls .
Update on the make shift shade, we been doing triple digits in Cal about 9 day straight now , and burlap sheet been working great , I been watering allot more now because everything is potted but the bags been doing the roots justice , next year I will be doing about 15 gal bags hoping there will be less maintence throw the warm season, this is a old picture and the my girls are well bigger and wide now , dealing with some caterpiller problem now but going to take care of them this weekend when it cools down , as my first year I learned allot and accumulated equipment , thanks again.
