A customer has a question and I hope we can get some opinions on it, thanks.
"am getting a tent that has 1 digital ballast 600w mh and hps light globes with it.am not sure weather i need another ballast for mh 600w light for the seeds an veg stages and clones to hopefully.,or just use cfl’s for this.power isnt really an issue but i assumed that the 600w mh light would pump the seeds, clones an veg stage more than enough…is 5and a half ft width x5 and a half feet length x 6ft high an was going to use 3ft sqaured just for flowering an leave the other 2 and a half feet for clones and seeds an veg stages…would 600w mh be to much for seed stage an right next to the other plant during veg stages.together.next to each other…or should the seeds have less light\ on their own?or should my 600w flowering light be ok in the same area as a second ballast an batwing hood for the others.

During flower it has to be on a 12-12light cycle. During their night time it MUST BE DARK no light leaks or it will hermie and go to seed.
So to be able to use the 5x5x6 tent for seedling/veg and one side for flower it would have to be split with light proof material. It might be better to flower in the 5x5 with your 600w and get a 2nd tent to veg in . Hope this has helped

and also which way to crack the seeds do you use, everyone seems to do it differently, does roberts come with any instructions for his strains.?wet paper towel,in a cup of r/o or sterilised water?or just put them into the medium straight away an soak for the first few days for indoor feminised seeds.?

Shot glass of water 24hr or until they sink. Then on to the moist paper towel in a zip lock bag until the pop, usually 24-36 hrs. Then in seedling soil.
Well depends on how your gonna grow. Soil? Hydro? @aussie123556

Welcome to Ilgm by the way plenty of knowledge here! If you haven’t downloaded Robert’s free grow bible I recommend you do so it will help so much,as well as the guides.
Use the magnification glass icon in the middle of the page to look up topics or questions you may have ,while waiting for a response. As I’m doing now @aussie123556 when you want to get someone put the @ symbol in front of the name no space to tag them and the will get notified.
Well that’s enough rambling for now
ok tks again…yes i have that book now too…cant wait to post my own pics one day.there was’nt much in australia like this site or as helpful,if the queen didn’t make us have a public holiday i would of ordered already too…lol…tks again Nug-bugRegular

i realiase now with a wall seperating flower an veg i,ll need another scrubber for each area.i can’t have another tent altogether so just gonna split the room an get another smaller filter for the veg area,i have a 4inch inlet fan for clean air coming in an a 6 inch intake/outake for the carbon filter air coming out,can you have a split on the 4 inch an the 6 inch ducting to go to both areas,is 5ftx5ftx5ft…by the numbers it says i’ll be fine but just wondered if anyone else has done this.basically 2 areas right next to each other but only 1x 6 inch fan for extracting.hoping both will be fine for both uses.tks again…this site is awesome

Tbh I wouldn’t worry about a carbon filter in veg, unless 0 smell can be tolerated. I’m 8 weeks in and I’m not gonna lie, when I first step in my shed outside there’s a faint smell, which is exacerbated when touched or ruffled up,bending tying down .
Don’t know it’s probably been done but let’s see if the hvac pro says @Countryboyjvd1971

Man I know my wife has to remind me that there’s a 2nd girl around that need my attention
Can you give me buds? No! Well then wait cha turn!
Have you ordered any seeds? What strain you thinking about?
You will definitely need a ph meter and a ppm meter. (Parts per million) to know the strength of the nutes. Ph is the leading cause of problems, for the new cannabis grower.

hee hee…lol the otherone i was thinking about was keeping a mother an doing clones.but only have 1 flower area an seperate veg area.after cutting clones it will overlap an i wont have the room as the flower area will have 4 in it already.can you keep the mother in veg stage longer than say 60 days 20 more than the usual or so… days or even longer without getting to root bound or problems. so i could cut the clones like 24 days before flowering with the ak-47 strain of 64 days flowering stage. an just add another 4 ready to go straight away after harvest.?

You’ll have to talk to others about getting a perpetual harvest. I’m not there yet, want to though. Have to talk ol lady into buying me another tent.
Yes you can keep a mother for years! Literally! But I’m not the one to advise that.
@Donaldj @peachfuzz @Majiktoker @garrigan62
Perpetual cycles are really easy when adding different strains it can be a little challenging as each strain will respond different to the environment some will do great together and some will be a challenge to maintain

I run 2 different flower spaces 1 high watt veg and 1 low watt veg t5’s plus a cloning area not large but by definition a 3 light rotation. flowering spaces run opposite hours and a month apart so monthly harvest but does take work need constant clones and a good rotation of vegging plants
