Cal-mag about twice a month on water day only. Go easy with the nutes on young plants. As I mentioned if you’re in Ocean forest soil plants are nice and green Leafs standing straight out, ride the train. Ocean Forest has lots of the plants needs already in the soil. Congratulations on your first grow.
Yeah so this grow is totally different. Growing from seed is a challenge. So are you saying give cal mag every other watering? Also I am following the fox farm nutrient chart. I hope you don’t mind me with all the questions.
How much cal mag?
@bbdeb1958 I usually start with about a half a dose on nutes. Watch how the plants respond and as plants get bigger increase your dosage. Cal-mag 5 ml per gallon of water. Cal Mag is mild NPK very low. If you go with calmag every other time water only you’ll be fine.
How far should the light be at
What kind of light are you using.
I am using a turkey baster on the one that has been sprouted for a week. The other 2 are still haven’t sprouted yet. How far should the light be on them. I have a little plastic stick standing up the one that has sprouted.
Seedlings don’t need a lot of light, I use a round fluorescent bulb about 15 watts on seedlings you can get them as low as 6 inches. If you have a blue purple light I would probably start at about 30 inchs. The turkey light I’m not familiar with. Seedlings I keep the light on 24/7 first couple weeks. Then cut back to 18/6 light schedule. Some people will start seedlings under the pigtail fluorescences they work quite well.
Ok well I put them under my led light and I am hoping they will sprout.
What brand of LED light do you have?
Vivosun 300 watt. I am using it since the first one sprouted
Calmag is usually 1 mil per litre. As for your light height I usually go for 12-18 inches from the top of the pot and turn it down as well, you dont want to burn your babies. Main thing here like @kellydans has said, easy on the nutes and if you start seeing leggy seedlings drop your light a bit and if they go really compact then raise your light. Don’t worry about the questions, keep em coming
So you say some calmag to.
Under leds calmag is a definite must. I’ve never needed it under HiD but can’t do without it under my HLG’s
Nice looking seedling , @Davyg has got you covered, I would just like to add you can backfill a little soil on your seedling up about an 1 inch an also small fan create a little air flow make the young lady jiggle will strengthen stem.
Remember to get your pH brought down as well to 6.5 - 6.8 going in. You will get away with 7.0 but no higher
Ok so I then do it now
I always say follow the manufactures recommendation. The brand of CalMag I use only calls for 1ml per liter or 1tsp/gallon.
I always find starting from seed to be a trying time. Other than when the seed doesn’t germinate, when I have had problems it is because I drown them. So easy does it. They don’t need much
Good luck
So you are saying just use cal mag during germinating? I already have had the experience of drowning.
