Gelato, skittles, wedding cake auto question

First time with autos. My light is at 40 percent and 20 inches above. They are just now coming out of the dirt. From what I’ve read on here is just don’t mess them as far as pruning right? What about topping? I’m going to try and do this grow organically……we’ll see. Planning on only feeding with compost tea. Anything else I should know? Thanks y’all.

Just read on here you will find all different opinions on what to do for autos. I personally don’t do nothing but let them grow easily stunned

There are a lot of variables of course, but if the proper growing conditions are met and your autos are healthy and doing well, you can most definitely train them. I top my autos, and also supercrop them.
One of the keys to success with autos is getting the first few weeks right.

Tag me in this thread when they’re about 2 1/2 to 3 weeks above ground if you have questions about how to train them.

You can do fine starting them in their final pots like the popular opinion says, but you can definitely do better starting then in solo cups and very carefully transplanting them into final pots at around 12 to 15 days above ground. All my autos get transplanted, and I get much better yields than back when I did it the other way.

This is a Froot by the Foot auto that I topped above the 5th node during week 4. I would normally have topped her above the 4th node, but I was a little late with this one. It worked out pretty well anyway, she’s looking great here in week 8.

You can do low stress training and high stress training if they are healthy and in a good environment. Biggest thing with autos is recognizing problems and correcting them quickly, wasted time is not your friend.

Familiarize yourself with DLI/ light intensity and hours of days, this needs to be treated differently than photos.

If you have any questions feel free to tag me, I run organic autos.

I have the phototone app. I’m not very familiar with it. Only used it a couple times during my last grow. I’ve been using my compost tea on these purple kush (med seeds) I have going outside. Seems to be working great.

5 gallon pots ready with compost and earthworm castings. I should start a journal. it looks like it would be helpful. Maybe I wouldn’t forget s**t!

Just wondering if this looks right for my little ones?

For someone that is experienced and knows what to look for when things go wrong yes.

It’s not something I would recommend for a beginner, that much lighting will cause smaller problems to become bigger problems, for example not watering to runoff and having salt buildup will cause a lot more burning or PH problems will damage tissue faster under this much lighting.

I hope that makes sense.

This is my 4th or 5th grow. My first with autos. I’m not experienced. I have an hlg 600r. It’s on 40 percent, 25 inches above. So I think you’re saying that’s too much? What should it be? I haven’t started feeding yet, this is the start of week 2 above soil.

Week two above soil yes that’s way to much. I would shoot for 30-35 DLI and increase it as they get more established.

Thank you. Did a combination of both!

This might help ya. Kinda give you a little of an idea of how much lighting.

The second picture @Cap_Ron posted where you see the fan leaves with a good V and standing up soaking up the light is what you want to see, those are health and loving their conditions and not lacking anything. That’s what you wanna see.

Sweet! Thanks.

Damn, so this is saying I should be at 16 to 25 at the start of 2 weeks. Am I reading that right?

Technically yes but it’s not a big deal, I start my seedlings out at 12 week 1 then somewhere around 26-30 starting week 2. 35 won’t hurt them.

What week should I start feeding? Like I said I’m gonna feed with compost tea. Does it matter since they are growing in living soil?

I would probably hold off until week three and if they are of good size start introducing nutrients.

What type of living soil?
