For a Retired Nurse

A customer has a question and I hope we can get some opinions on it, thanks.

" I’m a retired nurse w family members w intractable seizures, PTSD, DEPRESSION, INSOMNIA & chronic fatigue. I’m a newbie. I’d like to try to grow a few outside. On a homestead w 80 acres! Easy to hide, I have a few questions.

  1. I live in the southeast with temps in 80’s most days & have had good rain this year, is it too late to start an outside grow?
  2. I didn’t see any description that specifically mentioned seizures or epilepsy, given all these factors & on a fixed single income, what would you suggest?"

I’m an inside grower and I’ll let the others chime in who are outside growers. But I would say yes it is to late could be wrong but I think I’m right.

You could easily grow autos if you are quick to get seeds started. I use White Widow and OG Kush for Insomnia but they are good for other things and there are so many others. Somebody with more info will weigh in.

I’m also in the southeast area and auto’s would work great! Our temps stay well above feeezing into November. By the time you get your seeds you’ll have a good 2 and 1/2 months to grow. Get a small inexpensive greenhouse to put them in if necessary and you can grow into December.

@Myfriendis410 @peachfuzz @GetbackJoJo iare all on point I think Autos would be a great option this late in the grow season as well
you won’t have enough time to finish photos properly imo
You can get a decent size green house for 100 bucks or less if you want to go that route and extend your season a bit
Good luck and if I can help just tag me
Happy growing :cowboy_hat_face::v:CB

MThank you all so much for your input. I actually already have a portable green house & a small hydroponics tabletop model for growing herbs & lettuces. Has anyone had good grows moving from hydroponics to soil? I think my table top is probably too small for complete grow. My family member is sending me the seed, so I’m not sure what it will be.

I was gonna recommend you join the forum so we can help you get sorted out! I’m glad you did. Growing your own meds can be very rewarding. Go to the leafly website and click on strains and scroll down you will find the symptom and medical filters. I’m not sure if one or two strains may cover all of those for you but I think there are probably several strains that will help you.

I hope they aren’t sending you bag seed.

If you do need help you can tag us like @bob31 and we will know you have directedsomething to us.

Best wishes! @PHamm

@PHamm There is not a strain on ilgm that doesn’t help with any of theses problems these are 100% pure Amsterdam strains I’ve not been able to find any that work better I help a lot of family and friends with meds for there issues and there’s al lot but where you are and as late as it is any ilgm auto you can’t go wrong with when you’re trying to help with different elements of illness that’s when you start getting into processing the plant and making oil’s And edibles and other things but I believe you would be happy with anything that you get I believe the auto would be your best bet at this point especially outside you can go photo but you will not yield as much with the time you have allowed I hope this helps if you have any questions from anyone it’s very easy to get a hold of them you just put the @ in front of there name your in good hands with some great people from all over the world we welcome you

I also agree about the autos. You can start some photoperiod plants, but the yields wouldn’t be worth the effort.

With access to a greenhouse, you could grow autos in it all winter if you’re as far south as I am.

Enjoy your new hobby…
