First time with autoflowers. Quick question

I just have a quick question, this is my 4th grow i have had great success with my photos, but this is my first time with autoflowers, do I tend to them the same way? As in topping, pruning, feeding, light hours?

A lighter touch is in order. Yes you can do those things but remember the plant will start flowering somewhere in the 3 to 5 week point. So you don’t get a lot of recovery time.
Best advice I can give you is to read some threads on the forum about training autos.
The little magnifying glass is the search feature.

One thing. Do it early since they have little recovery time. I’ve posted to just let autos grow out. You could top and next day they wanna start flowering. Then the stretch hardly happens and you end up with runts.

A fim also seems to be a less stressful act on the plant but do it early like 4th node

That apparently can go from start to finish either at 12/12 or 24/0, crazy right? And the stories about them range from crazy fast flower times to ‘should I force it to flip’ or up to 17 wks to finish this thing lol.

4th grow you’ll be all over this thing!! Happy growing!!

I have found 24/0 causes some autos to stall in pre-flower. I’ve switched to 18/6 and have no stalling issues now.

All I have grown to date are autoflowers. 18/6 straight through till the last 2 weeks of flower where I go 16/8 to prevent foxtails.

Yes and no. You thought it was gonna be a quick question
Lets start with topping.
Can you top an auto? Yes
Should you top an auto? Yes, as long as it is extremely healthy already. I recommend letting a 4th or 5th node come in, then top. If she seems even the slightest slow going, DONT TOP. Auto’s are sensitive.

Pruning- not the same as photos. You want to be very selective about the leaves you cut. Try training them out of the way first. Outside of that I wait until a week after stretch has stopped to do a full defoliate and lollipop.

Feeding- best advice is to start low, like half a dose and see how she reacts. Then build from there. Less tends to be more when talking autoflower.

If you check on your girls daily then yes, if not…no you tend them more frequently.

Autos make you think quick and take actions on the plant’s timeline…and not your timeline.

I kind of like autos because you can turn them quickly and harvest more varieties. However, they push you to act quickly before their next stage and I kind of like that too.

For example I know I only have 4 weeks to supercrop, lst etc so I gotta stay on top of that early on.

In my opinion ur best of fimming autos and light cycle 18/6 or 20/4 you still prune and lollipop them if u want to lst training
