First-time Learning experience

It’s good that I took one of my plants outside to look at her better before harvesting. She’s at 70 days old today since popping out of the soil back in April. Part of my first ever growing anything. Lots of STRESS put on them!

Looking at the tricomes inside the garage, under the lighting I have, the tricomes almost ALL looked cloudy. I have probably 30% of pistols are now amber. Wow! Ready to harvest, just like the seed company said! Not so fast!

When I took the plant outside and looked at her under the sunlight, ALL of the tricomes are clear as can be. So I’ll wait some more time. It’s been 70 days since she popped, but I guess in the real world, I have about a month to six weeks left. Apparently, the 70 day thing only applies to professional growers with a lot of lights and botanists. For me, it’s six to ten weeks after FIRST FLOWER.
I guess what I learned is to check UNDER SUNLIGHT, and don’t expect to start your autoflower harvest at 70 days. More like 90-100 days, seed to harvest. Am I right?

Agree with @OGIncognito She still has plenty of time! Breeder specs are under ideal conditions and definitely without “lots of stress” put on the plant.

My plants are 102 days old today white widow auto and trichomes are still milky and clear was wondering if that has to do with plants being so tall had to dail lights back to 30 percent

Yes, it’s always much longer than they state. In your case, you’re looking at around 5 to 6 weeks approximately.

That’s if you’re going for higher CBD values, correct? I’m trying to get higher THC levels…cloudy tricomes, vwith about 50-60% of pistols amber. Is this not correct? I’m just going off s chart posted here somewhere, I believe.

Like @HMGRWN says I don’t look at tricomes till at least 80 to 90% of the pistols are orange, and I judge from a good bud in the middle of the plant, top ripen sooner. But you can tell when you start seeing amber tricomes you are in the window. A plant that is still full of white pistols is still building bud, a plant that is ripe has little to no white pistols.

@Borderryan22 @OGIncognito @HMGRWN @Dexterado my plants are 102 days old today only have jewelrys loupe to check trichomes but my phone zooms in pretty good looking at pictures how much longer do yall thank

I like it to look a little more amber than below. You still have sometime left to fatten up, you have a lot of clear.

I have no clue when to harvest (soon my problem, too). The shape is awesome and further grow time may produce awesome results. Good growing to you and show us the pictures. Thanks.

Doubtful the trichomes would be mostly cloudy if pistils are only 50-60% darkened. As long as there are 30% or more pistils looking fresh and white, the bud is still growing and is not ripe yet. If you look hard enough at the first trichomes to develop, you will find some that are cloudy already and those will be swallowed up as the bud grows. Sugar leaves get cloudy trich’s early and reflections can make them look amber so several areas should be checked for overall conditions.

To my understanding, CBD and THC develop together or at the same rate and THC then degrades into CBN as they turn amber.
