First time- In the Sun

Had four seeds given to me, Afghan X Tajik Hash Plant
These are F1
They look totally different to me.
Two died from heat , or I killed them.
Started 2nd month of Summer, 1st of January and thought I would put two scrawny survivors outside.
Really sandy soil,so I bought a $8 bag of compost and threw in equal amount of Coco coir.
Was not expecting them to survive.
Put sugar cane mulch then paving bricks on top.
Give Root Roids once a week and seaweed solution every two weeks then just water once a week.
Four weeks old now and really hot weather ,32C to 43C and they are going well,I think.
Grew 6 inches this week ,currently 16 inches
Deep watering once a week with pipe buried 18 inches into ground.
Starting to show pre flowers but cannot tell yet, hoping for one of each.

That tracks. F1s will be similar like siblings - alike but lots of opportunities for variation

Growing great. Nice work

Is that buried in a plastic cup in the dirt?

Just the top half of a Styrofoam noodle cup.
Use noodle cups to start seedlings then cut bottom half of cup away with razor so I don’t disturb roots when transplanting.

So they have grown another 4 inches in 4 days.
Looking at bigger one with microscope and made decision that it is a male.
Decided to top it because still has another two months to veg.
Here are some pictures

You appear to be spot on. I’d monitor - I had a female plant who sprouted like 3 male balls and then proceeded to flower totally normally, but others that were just full blown males.

Was outside in the sun and noticed Arnie looking at me.

Thanks Al
I noticed some aphids on plants and searched online for safe organic pesticides and found Eco-Oil. HIPPO ENHANCED is a non-toxic botanical oil based
miticide/insecticide that controls Two-spotted mite, Aphids, Whitefly, Citrus
leafminer and Scale in crops without leaving any potentially harmful residues.
eco-oil HIPPO ENHANCED combines the insecticidal properties of natural
oils, and unique plant extracts called HIPPOs that attract beneficial insects
into your crop. Well two days later aphids are gone and I have a resident predator. Thanks for confirmation on Arnie ,the Praying Mantis. I was not sure .

@AL_GREEN You Grow outdoors, when do they start flowering?
When it hits 12 hours daylight?
That would be early Autumn where I am.

@Hashtonbutcher, second that, love the handle too.

If you are growing n hemisphere they should start flowering sometime around august 1st. Most strains will start to flower with about 14.5 hours of light as the days get shorter after the solstice. If you are in the souther edge of the temperate zone they should start a little earlier than that.

Land race sativas are the only ones that won’t start until closer to the fall equinox. They are a real challenge to grow in the north outdoor due to slow onset of flower at 12/12 only. Or less sometimes 11/13. Then they take twice as long to finish (16-20 weeks) since there is no race to winter in the equatorial zones.

,I am in southern hemisphere and getting 13 hours, 40 minutes of daylight ,not flowering yet.
They have pre-flowers
.About 3 weeks of Summer left. Might go outside after dark and see if there is any light coming from street lights.
Never done it outside before, I thought it had to be 12 hours.
Great explanation,many thanks.

Oh well Im cheating… I grow 99% Autos…So they do what they want at their leisure… The 1% left Is I grew a Photo Romulan strain two seasons ago…It was pretty big I didn’t really keep track of how much sun but they face the west so its pretty sunny and light most of the day.

Just went outside and checked and I counted at least 20 Calyx and pistils showed up overnight.
Incredible, nothing there yesterday ,so hopefully flowering has begun.

Oh yeah it happens so so fast! Next thing you know you’ll have fat colas everywhere!
