First time growing Autos please Help

First time growing autos… Any recommendations on soil? I have been reading many people use Fox Farm OF and Happy Frog, some people also said they use a mix of it… now I’m also seeing some people say they mixed in some FF coco loco with OF and Happy Frog as well… What would be the right mix or recommendation? Please be specific if possible.

I’m also planning on using a 5x5 Vivosun tent and VS4000 light for the indoor grow… anybody have experience with this? Any tips?

Thank you!

I use Happy Frog since it’s not too hot. I add 20% (by volume) of perlite to help with aeration and compaction.

I use FFOF on the bottom 2/3 with extra perlite and FFHF with perlite on the top 1/3

I’ve been using pro mix Sunshine 4 mix the last 8 years or so. Works good for me.
Like that the plants only get what I give them.

Im team Fox Farms Happy Frog to start, Ocean Forest after transplant. You cant really go wrong with any of the above though. Many different ways to skin a cat right?

FF makes solid soils. Just water first few weeks and ur good. Happy Frog is perfect for starting.

Their Coco Loco seems decent as well. Coco and Earthworm castings I believe.

Coast of Maine is like a more organic FF, just costs a bit more. Havent gotten to try it myself.

Coco is something for growers who want to know exactly what plants are eating. Coco and Jacks 321 seems to be the basics starter pack. Super cost effective and just simple start to finish.

Its entirely ur call on which way to go. Coco is faster and almost impossible (ok not impossible but hard) to overwater. In exchange for needing to feed/water daily.

Soil is more natural imo but a bit slower. And I can go a couple days without having to tend to them.

I would recommend going with hp promix and mix in worm castings and mushroom compost

I use Happy Frog and also Ocean forest also when I fill my pots I do the bottom 2/3 of the pot with Ocean forest and the top 1/3 with happy frog this mix will allow you an easy 3 weeks of not having to use nutrients by my 3rd week I start nutrients at a 1/4 strength maybe around 200-300 ppm and gradually up my nutrients over the next few weeks if ypu add nutrients to quickly the plants will get nutrient burn
