Forgot to add…not sure what’s going on with a couple of leaves shown in the pictures.
Welcome to the ILGM forum! Plants look good overall, second pic looks as if something was spilled on it! Other leaves look like ph is off, maybe overfed a jag and/or environmental!
I do not understand this, can you explain for my HIGH brain?
Coco loco is a coco/peat product and a more appropriate pH range for feeding would be 5.8-6.2 or thereabouts.
The mixture of coco and peat also requires daily feeding since the growing medium has very little nutrients in it. Coco should remain wet with frequent feedings and requires cal-mag. Some set up automatic feedings of up to 6 times a day.
Ok thank you! I will start feeding daily and get the PH in that range. This is my first grow EVER so I still have lots to learn!
Lol my water PH was 7.3 before adding anything, added nutes and he led the PH again and got 6.5, then checked the run off water and it was 7.3. I don’t understand it a whole lot myself yet to be honest😆
I got some cal mag today also so I’ll be adding that!
Your ideal ph is 5.7, you should let it fluctuate occasionally to as high as 6.4-6.5 but always bring it back to 5.7 or 5.8, I have grown in coco for two years and if anything the ph is low. The ph levels in coco loco are stabilized by dolomite lime so you won’t be able to do much since it takes time for dolomite to break down and it also contains guano which again will feed every watering ! I use a 75/25 coco/perlite mix that way I know what to put in it!
This copied from Fox Farm website!
Plants growing in Coco Loco® will not require water as often as your usual potting mix. Whether you’re growing in hanging baskets, vertical gardens, containers, or seedling trays, extend your watering schedule. In most climates, every two to three days will be enough. Always adjust your watering schedule as needed.
The way I mix it I water 2-3 times daily, which can be a PITA but a +tradeoff for the growth rate! My veg time are usually 3-4 weeks!
Ok I’ve read some things on here to bring the PH up and down, some say household things like vinegar or baking soda or I’ve saw some use a chemical called PH UP/DOWN, not sure which would be better to use. I’m nervous about over watering since that seems to be common amongst new growers…How do I know how much water to give them at a time? Right now I water them to a slight run off and then wait 2 days before watering again.
I use ph up and ph down by GH! You can use lemon juice to bring it down and will add a slight lemony flavor to weed when used in flower. When watering you should make sure entire surface of medium (around outer edge of pot also) is saturated fully, this can be a slow process! The drier it gets the more “hydrophobic” it becomes and the slower you must pour. As for how much, you should pick up a pot full when dry and then compare to after a good watering, that will give you a better idea of when and how much to water!
