Attempted my 1st FIM ever 4 days ago.
Did I blow it on all 4? If so, what do I do now?

I topped my Gelato and it recovered well… Exotic Gelato fem RDWC - #11 by IKnowURider

And not sure, but looks like you went too gentle with them. But wait for someone that knows more about it - I like topping better in general…

@IKnowURider based on the photos does it look like the FIM procedure was successful or a fail to you? Or is it too early to tell? My first time doing a FIM cut.

OK, by to gentle do you mean I didn’t make the cut far enough down?

A swing and a miss…lol. No worries, it happens. She is just carrying on getting over the little shock. I’d recommend searching youtube on how to master FIM method. It really is fairly simple. You can give another shot after a 3-5 days

I really can’t tell - I thought you meant pinching and rotating between the finger and thumb. If you did top (cut) them - it look like the center cola may have regrown? If it did - you might not have left enough of a stump when you cut/topped them. Can you tell if the center grew back ?

It looks like that’s what’s happening

Like Stillincloset said - no problem. They will be fine. How many days in veg so far. You can top again and leave a stump. Be be careful - too much chopping and they may hermie

Thx! I made the cut 4 days ago. When you say attempt again in 3 to 5 days, do you mean from this point forward or from the time I made the original FIM cuts?

@stillincloset when it’s time to attempt again would you suggest just doing a standard top as to opposed to trying to FIM again and possibly blowing it twice? That’s what my gut is telling me but I just don’t know

Not sure what FIM is doing anyway. It is an acronym for Fu$% I missed.

The best way to think about it is how much stress will it cause your plant? Your plants look great and do not appear stressed at all…so another go at it should be fine. But be careful, each time you cut, pinch, twist a plant you do stress it and can increase the chance of it becoming a hermaphidite. If it was my plant - I would top it in a few days if you have another 2 weeks plus in vegetative grow phase to let it recover before shifting to bloom phase.

Thx, that sounds really good and yes I’ve got plenty of time left to go in veg as I’m hoping to also make my first scrog happen down the line. :v:

I have never messed with the fuc@ I missed method. I stick with the fuc@ I did it right method. I top once, and manipulate (LST). After a few runs you’ll get the hang of it. Just keep it simple…

@Nicky
Thx, a newbie to the forum here. What you stated is exactly what I was goin for (1st ever attempt) but I failed to nail 4 out of 4. :flushed:
So to be on the safe side I guess I’ll just top them as i’m gun shy of trying to FIM again.
Would you say that would be the safest course of action? Any other advice or recommendation you might want to share i’d be gr8ful for. :v:I can put some current pics later.
