Figuring out how much time is left?

It’s been a month since I changed my light cycle to 12/12. I was curious if anyone could give me some good indicators when my plant is near the peak of its THC production and density. I know to look for cloud my trichomes but as far as how much time left I have on my plant.

This isn’t my ideal video but it’s a good guide all the same.

Looks like a while yet. I’d guess 4 to 6 weeks.

Yeah, at least 6 weeks. Here’s a pic of my plant that is 9 weeks, and has at least two to go. Maybe this will give you a visual idea.

What color normally do these hairs turn to? I know my particular strain (Trainwreck) grows with some orange hairs.

Orange, red, pink, purple…from white to one of those. The hairs will stop sticking straight out and change color when the bud is near ripening

You’re not supposed to smoke these sugar leaves correct? I think I still got at least 5-6 weeks to go considering the buds are still trying to bulk up

Good question! So, its not that you arent supposed to. You can, despite their look there is more nute and chloraphyll then canabinoids in/on them. This leaves them being kinda harsh when smoked. This is why during the trim you will want to cut as much of them away as you can.

Myself, I like to collect the trim as I go, leave it out in a bowl and shift them around until it drys out. Them decarboxilate them and infuse coconut oil with them and any other trimmings. Dont keep fan leaves unless they to are covered in trichomes too.

For clarity, all this is done after the harvest. Leave sugar leaves on your drying buds.

At least. Start looking at trichomes when all your pistils have changed color.

Great info, thanks! Really it’s just a matter of waiting till the pistils to change and then making a judgement call based on the color of the trichomes. I still haven’t decided how I want to trim yet. I’ve read the pros and cons between just haven’t really weighed my options out yet.

Wet trim is a pain. I urge you to do a 1/2 and 1/2. Pull all the fan leaves prior to drying then trim sugar after dry before cure.

Oh she’s a beauty!

I read that yellowing of some of the lower leaves is normal during this stage of my plant, should I be cutting these yellowing leaves off?

If the plant is consuming them let it eat and remove when theyre dried or fall off.
