Feminized Pine Apple Express (California & Bulgaria) first grow anything!

The Nematodes have arrived! Waited for the evening to get close before adding these to the soil. Am surprised on how small the actual packaging of the Nematodes are. I did order the smallest one. Didn’t expect it to be that small though. The 5 million count on that box sounds like …well, 5 million. Are the Nematodes that small? Anyway, I tossed what was in the funky smelling plastic box into a 5 gallon bucket gave it a little whirl and after regular watering the ladies I poured some of the Nematode mix per instructions. 6 cups was enough to douse the surface of each pot. Had half a bucket left of the stuff… called my buddy up and asked “You want some Nematodes”? He said hell yeah…

I did buy a bag of the PlaySand from Lowes, 50lb bag for $6. I still might go with that too.

@TransplantedFarmgirl you were right… I should’ve just did this from the beginning, thanks.

beginning of week 4 for this lady is my guess, the rest seem to be a week behind … nevertheless, Bloom Nutes (Bio Bud) are on for the next 4 weeks. plan is to keep the EC as close to 1.5 as possible. Sure am tempted to grab an RO unit right about now as the tap water is robbing me 300 ppm out of the gate. :unamused:

Week 4?

Not gonna lie …I was beside myself for two days when the yellow leaves started popping out on a few ladies these past days … did some research and come to find out it’s perfectly normal for the ladies to self check themselves and get rid of unwanted leaves… amazing. That or I have a Nitrogen problem…:joy:. Since the rest look amazing…I’m going with the former. :sunglasses:

Just to play it safe … I topped dressed the ladies with some 3-5-5 fertilizer pellets. Smells like manure in the tent now… :unamused: Will have to watch how I feed the next two weeks (if any) just to see how the ladies react to the top dressing. We’ll see!

The Bulgaria flowers are still mostly white pistils pointing out…the California however, which didn’t look promising last week. .have gotten thick. they seemed to have gone past the white pistils thing and gone to straight out flower …no messing around. I’m impressed to say the least. Crystals are forming rapidly. My base nutrients are those yellow bottle organic formulas made in Australia. The yellowing leaves is still a mystery to me. Have the gnats done enough damage? Am I going through another nute lockout? Is this just a normal thing with this strain? I just have to keep going to find out I guess. The sand has lessened the gnat infestation but they’re still there. It’s like whatever now, they thrive in conditions that the ladies thrive in so what can I do. I’m just ready to hunt for lady bugs right now. none in the desert though …let’s go to the mountains! Anyways… the flowers are just killing it, especially on the California strain.

well… first grow anxiety will get the best of you … I’ve gone the super cautious way and have vacuumed all the playsand out, and dumped about two inches of 100% perlite as a top layer. That stuff is super airy, lite, and a little fluffy. Not compacted at all, nothing like the playsand. And it didn’t break the bank. 4 bags is all I needed. Then I flushed the ladies. Will have to let them recover now. broken record, same song, how have I not killed these ladies yet! :joy:

I have to mention an invaluable member (of another forum site) that’s been a huge big brother to me these past few days…( syntax747 ) there’s moments that I find myself talking to myself as I’m checking on the ladies, going through everything in my head, could this be the solution, could this be the problem, am I doing this wrong or right… and then somebody just checks in on you out of the blue…“hey, what’s your question”? We’re at total opposites of how we grow yet he is still able to communicate a plan for me, remarkable, just remarkable.

So I’m knee deep into week 5 going on week 6 soon, and I should be feeding more heavily… I’ve figured out (or learned) another way to measure for feed. I’ve been familiar with checking the EC (Electrical Conductance) of the feed, for me my 5 gallon bucket after mixing. That’s been low, .8 and my new mentor and I have come to the conclusion that…well , I’m just not feeding enough. I also started a regular dosage plan of Cal Mag, should of did that weeks ago… but you know what they say…better to under feed than overfeed…easier to fix under…so that’s where I’m at right now. And to cement this thought I checked the ph on todays watering (runoff) and that checked good at 6.5… if it was way lower than that then bud rot would be the cause… so no…I’m not over watering! And this new tool that just came in is a God Send… EC SOIL TESTER , with this tool I’m able to test the EC of the soil. What does that mean? I’m now able to test the salt content of the soil. And what does overfeeding mean? too much salt in the soil… if the soil checks out…it’s time to FEED DA BEAST!

Please don’t link to other forums. Even if we are apart of them. Thanks.

No worries… don’t want members leaving here… I fixed it.

@CooterJuice hey boss, if you don’t mind me asking, I know you’ve grown the Pineapple Express and would like some input, do they like to be fed or not really? And what ppm were you feeding during flower? I can’t lie, it’s touch and go from day to day, I’m almost ready to do just water till Harvest, these ladies are sensitive!

I grew autos in coco and fertigated 4 times a day during flower. They did not like anything over 700 ppm (1.4ec). The last 12 days I gave them straight water. Yea they was kind of finicky.

thanks :+1: was beside myself this morning… lmfao… ok, thanks Cooter! Thinking just water then. Lot to learn still, my soil has coco in it just don’t know how much if it, doing that research right now.

This is what’s driving me nutz… the yellowing of top leaves with green veins, looked it up and seems like a magnesium deficiency, (or lock out)? The buds look great though, that’s (giving me hope) encouraging to me so far. The census so far with the few I’ve talked with say that coco is great with synthetic nutes, not so great with organic nutes, have no idea why. Gonna look into that some more.
