Feedback on our first 2 plants and estimated harvesting time

Hi wonderful community, we purchased both plants from ILGM, both autoflowers, their info is included below. Please provide us with some feedback.

Both plant were growing very well and fast, until we did not realize how much water bigger plants drain! For few days both plants were without water!

  1. The Girl Scout did very well, we did not notice much damage, beside few yellow leaves and maybe slower growing. This plants has several nugget forming, but all the pistills are still very white. I believe it could take another 1-2 weeks for brown pistills.

GSC all nugget are still very white

  1. Strain: Girl Scout Cookies Extreme Auto
    Method: Hydroponics with water pump
    Vessels: Hydroponics Container
    Water: distilled
    Nutrients: FloraNova (Grow or Bloom)
    Grow Tent: 2x4
    LIGHT+FAN: 2x LED Vivosun AeroLight 100W
    Light Cycle: 18/6 or 20/4
    Temp (Average AM/PM): 74/68
    Humidity (Average AM/PM): 50/50
    Ventilation system: 6’ Duct Fan
    Humidifier as needed

  2. Bruce Banner was hit harder by lack of water and nutrients, and it noticeable slowed the growth compared to the GSC above. And BB immediately started to show yellow leaves. This one is showing the nugget pistills becoming brown. From my research, when 90% of the pistills become brown, then it’s time to harvest for the highest amount of THC.

    BB Buds getting more brown

  3. Strain: Bruce Banner Auto
    Method: Hydroponics with water pump
    Vessels: Hydroponics Container
    Water: distilled
    Nutrients: FloraNova (Grow or Bloom)
    Grow Tent: 2x4
    LIGHT+FAN: 2x LED Vivosun AeroLight 100W
    Light Cycle: 18/6 or 20/4
    Temp (Average AM/PM): 74/68
    Humidity (Average AM/PM): 50/50
    Ventilation system: 6’ Duct Fan
    Humidifier as needed

Please, could you suggest and estimate harvesting time for both plants. See close up pictures. Consider those are autoflowers and they have been growing fast. As today, both plants have exactly 7.6 weeks.

A few questions for you Growmie :love_you_gesture:
-you’re using distilled water, are you adding nutrients and the PH at 5.8-6.2? What’s the EC/PPms of the nutrient mix?
-temperature of the reservoir solution and are you adding Hydroguard or a like product to inoculate the roots. Temps above 70 will lead to root rot. Can you post a pic of the roots?
-distance from the bottom of the net cups to nutrient solution. 2” is ideal.

The website HTML is adding automatically number “3.” but I haven’t found a way to remove thie error.

Anyway, we posted 2 plants, not 3

Then, I couldn’t edit, no edit button! Not sure how to use this forum, sorry.

No worries, can you answer my previous questions :love_you_gesture:

Hi OG,
We did not measure the water PH, nor nutrients. The water is replaced weekly. The nutrients are as directed by the labels.
Roots: see photos below. We don’t use any root product. The root were very white, until we started to use FloraNova which stained the root into light brown. Do they look healthy?

GSC roots:

BB roots (much smaller than GSC, proportionate to the plant size as well)

The nutrient PH and EC are critical for a successful Grow. When the PH is out of range nutrient uptake is affected and I’m assuming that’s the issue. Hydro works best with a PH of 5.8-6.0… 6.2 would be the max. EC and PPms are critical as well so you’re not over or under feeding. Do you have a reliable PH and TDS pen to check these 2? The water level looks a little high from the pics and do you know the temp? I can’t get Hydroguard here and use Southern Ag which is the main ingredient in Hydroguard :love_you_gesture:

@OGIncognito . We probably have old tools to measure PH and EC. We’ll try finding them and measuring it.

The water level is high, because we just refilled them yesterday. Those plant are using 1 gallon water per week each, and growing. In few days, if we don’t add more water, it will be depleated.

We didn’t know that during flowering, the plants use so much water! During the vegetative state, they used a fraction of the water.

I’ll take the measurements. Do you think the plants are healthy? Is BB almost ready to harvest? BB nuggets are getting darker pistills. But GSC nuggets are still all white.

Since the plant was dying, do you think that accelerated the flowering, that’s why nuggets are already brownish?

They get super hungry in flower and still require nitrogen with more potassium and phosphorus in flower. The BB looks to have a week or 2 from the pics and the pistils will amber during the bud development. I would go ahead and remove all the affected leaves, their done and providing no benefit :love_you_gesture:

Is it safe to cut those yellow leaves near the leaves main stem(?) It won’t stress train them and slow down their flowering growth?

How many weeks would you estimate for the GSC harvesting time?

Thank you for the help by the way !

You can remove those leaves without stressing, the GSC looks to be around week 3 of flower?? If so I would say 6-7 weeks left at the soonest :love_you_gesture:

We removed the yellow leaves from both plants, here are updated photos. Thanks for the advice.

BB below:
(I feel bad looking at this plant that barely made it, but without yellow leaves it looks a bit better):

BB below: lower buds, how do they look? is the plant recovering?

GSC below

GSC below: is it normal that pistills on some buds are already brown, but other buds look still very white and young. See two pics below to compare same plant, but two different buds stages?

This one below seems very white, compared to above bud (already brownish)

What light are you running? I would also remove all growth even and below the lowest blue net line. :love_you_gesture:

Do you mean we should cut all the lower leaves below the lowest blue line? Do you think that those side LED lights instead can help the lower leaves and buds?

Yes remove all growth including the buds. They’ll never get enough light to produce anything worth smoking. The upper and mid bud sites are getting the most from the light setting and if you turn it in an attempt to ripen the lower buds…you’ll end up damaging the tops :love_you_gesture:

Here are measurement taken on both plants using the only tools we had (meant for soil, not hydroponics)

PH: 6.7 - 7
Water Temperature: 68F-70F
Fertility: 3-5

if we remove the bottom nuggets, are those usable at all? Maybe we can practice on how to harvest, trim, dry, and cure?

You can keep them and make oil or butter, only a recommendation so they’ll put that energy up on the mid and upper bud sites. No harm in leaving them :love_you_gesture:

We followed your suggestion, we removed a lot of leaves, especially from the GSC.

BB after removing dead leaves:

BB: we removed the 2 bottom small buds

BB top nugget. This seems getting close to harvest?

GSC after removing several leaves:

GSC top nugget. Does it look small?

Nice trim job :muscle:, they’ll really start putting on weight around week 7 of flower :love_you_gesture:

BB Auto: week 8 (harvested, dried, and it smells amazing, and it’s stronger than we expected, since this BB had some health issues)

GSC Auto week 8.6 (60 days)
Here are updated pics, we did additional trimming.

As 1st plant, we understood why we need to cut the small buds. This plant now have too many small buds, and we already removed a bunch. But we don’t want to stress it.

Do you think this plant is in good health? Should this be ready within 1-2 weeks?
