Dwc hydro grow problem, leaves dried up and color problems

This is my first dwc grow. So far I love the the soil free medium. The only problem I’ve had is today one do my girls has discolored leaves that are drying up, completely dry, does anyone know what this might be and what I can do about it?

I checked the ph and it was low reading at 5.2 so I added some ph up and brought it up to 6 I’ll bring it down to 5.5 tomorrow. Hopefully this resolves it, if anyone else has any thoughts please add to the thread .

Looks like ph issue. I don’t run at 5.5 with small plants. Needs to stay around 5.8 for happy leaves. I’ll let the ph get that low in late flower, but they really like 5.8 in veg. I grow flood and drain, but I started just like you are now. With a 9 bucket setup.

Thanks brother that information is really helpful and why I use this forum. After this grow I’m looking at other systems and flood and drain is one of the options . Would you suggest a flood and drain over a rdwc system?

Also I fixed the ph. Should that take care of it? Would you recommend cutting off the damaged leaves or anything else I should do other than adjust the ph?

I had a big rwdc system with 4 55gallon totes each growing 2 plants and a 30gallon res. That’s 120 gallons of water to flood a room if something bad happened. With flood and drain it’s impossible to flood your room and I like the fact that the roots aren’t exposed at all. With rwdc it’s easier to have root issues and gnats. I have a thread in show your grow about it. I’ve grown every style of hydro and I love the automation of my flood and drain setup

That’s a really nice set up I might just get a flood and drain instead of rdwc. It’s something I’ve been considering anyways.

I checked on my girls this morning. Damaged one doesn’t seem any worse. Should I cut the damaged leaves off or anything else I should do today. I’m gonna change the water and feed today as well as I usually feed Saturdays. What are your thoughts sk grower.

I just trimmed a bunch of damaged leaves from cal mag deficiency and put up a bud support net 6" higher up to tie the plants to and open the lower stuff. I trim any fan leaves blocking lower buds myself. There are plenty left to do the job. They are pretty healthy other than nute burn that I usually have a little of. I wouldn’t worry about one or 2 leaves. It’s already recovering so there’ll be plenty to come.

Beautiful! I want a flood and drain system for my 5x5 tent after I’m done with this dwc grow. What systems do you suggest? Should I get a table for the tent or have it fill individual buckets from the main unit?

I want to get like a 55 gallon reservoir and a 4x4 flood tabel and set it up like your system cause “ man that’s a really nice system and those girls are thriving”. Jealous over here. Haha

Is a flood tabel practical for a tent?

Sorry…been dealing with things and been away. I don’t think you could have more than a 3x3 (if they make one) you have to be able to get to your plants. I’m really not the person to answer that question, but I’m thinking a 2x4 might fit and you could grow 2 big plants at a time.

I see you said 5x5. You could definitely get the 4x4 table in the tent. Height might be an issue. I have a room with a 7 foot ceiling. As long as you use a net, height should be controlled.

I’m thinking instead of doing a table doing a flood and drain into individual 5 gallon buckets with clay pebbles . What is your experience with these systems? I’m eyeing the active aqua grow flow for my next grow because I want to stick with hydro just not deep water culture.

If you’re talking about autopots, I have no experience with them, but plenty of people in the lab section are using them and they may be a better fit for you. You don’t have to use a chiller if you can keep the water temps reasonable. I used a 9 bucket sprayer setup when I started rwdc then moved to 55gallon totes before moving to ebb and flow.
