Drying Room is hot

I am going to harvest soon so I am currently measuring the humidity in my garage, which is the only place I can dry and cure. I’m in Los Angeles so the temperature is high: it’s already gotten up to 90 degrees! The RH is staying between 43 and 55%.

How can I make it cooler in there during the day? I also have a fan and was toying with the idea of opening the back door a crack and blowing hot air out the back to cool it. Any other easy ideas? Maybe a swamp cooler?

Also is it okay if light gets in there a few of times per day or should I really try to keep it dark all the time? (My husband takes his bicycle out + puts it back in there every day)

So you’re going to need to do a bit of calculations to get where you want. That’s around a 15-20 difference you are wanting to reach. You’ll need to be exchanging the warmer air out of the garage, so adding fans or an AC will work against you without a good air exchange.

What options do you have to exhaust air? Trying to take a room generally designed with poor insulation and air flow is going to be a challenge without this.

Unfortunately you might need a portable ac unit.
You can try exhausting as much air as you can but I don’t think it will do the job.
Good luck.
You want to aim for 60-70* F for temperature
And about 60-65% humidity for drying…

Without AC your going to end up with bud you dont even want to smoke. In those conditions you will have zero terps, harsh and hay smell.

I have been reading ideal humidity is 45- 55% for drying!

I wouldn’t go lower than 55%
