Hi folks,
I’m hoping you can help me with a question. I’ve had a few successful grows, and the advice I got on drying and curing worked perfectly. But I’m about to enter uncharted territory.
I have two plants that look like they’re going to be ready to harvest at nearly the same time, right around April 1. My problem is that I’m leaving the country on April 7th and won’t return until the 21st. So, based on my past experience, seven days would be enough for drying, but what then? I’m not sure if I should jar them and just leave them until I return, or do something else. I do have a vacuum sealer if that could be part of the solution.
I don’t even really know where to begin on this one, so I’d appreciate any advice or suggestions.
Just throwing out an idea. Perhaps you could freeze them after the week of drying. Thaw them out for cure when you get back home.
What do you think @dbrn32@Myfriendis410
Doesn’t that damage the trichomes? Makes them brittle and they can break off.
If they get dry to where it reads upper or mid 60% Rh when sealed in a confined space, I would put them in Grove Bags for their “hands off” cure. No burping required.
I am with the opinion of grove bags… Pull them out of dry at between 10-12% moisture on a wood moisture meter then bag them if you can heat seal them… Even better… But don’t vacuum seal Grove bags or squeeze out extra air space in bag.
Thanks for the great input everybody! It looks to me like both freezing and the Grove bags would do the trick. Does anyone want to advocate for one over the other? I already ordered some Grove bags because they sound like great things to have around, even if you aren’t using them to cure.
I think I’m inclined to go that route, but I could do the freezer, too, so I’m wondering if there’s a consensus one way or the other.
Anyone want to debate the point?
Thanks again for all the help. I feel much better about the situation already!
Dry them as long as you can and get them into grove bags before you leave and hope for the best. Everything should be fine and a good start on the cure by the time you get back…relax you got this
