Don't know if I have enough light

I like to say how awesome it is that I can get some answers from ppl doing the same thing that I love here’s the deal I’m a broke ass man I had heart surgery in September of 2019 n haven’t worked since waiting for a judge to make a final decision on my disability. With saying all that I came across some seeds some auto some fem n reg. I had a 1000 HPS back in 2004 obviously I don’t have that light anymore I was in the garage and I had to fluorescent fixtures that wasn’t being used for anything and what I did was I screw them together and I put t8 bulbs in there a germinated my seeds transplanted them to dirt and it seems like the light is good enough for seedlings but what’s going to happen when it comes time to bloom and flower I want to know I’m using a 4x6 area and again I’m broke so I need to buy a light and I’m looking at some lakes online and it seems like I need something that’s going to cover that area does anybody have any suggestions or is my t8 bulbs good enough finish the grow

Your plants look fine…as you mentioned, be careful about over watering. In the future you might consider starting them in smaller pots and pot-up as the plants grow. It is much easier to manage water in smaller pots with small plants.

As for lighting, I don’t think you will get anything useable (bud wise) with lighting that you currently have. To be honest, for most folks, lighting is the single biggest expense. @dbrn32 or @Covertgrower @Holmes (among many others) can coach you on what sort of lighting will achieve your goals and hopefully within your budget.

I would try to help with lighting but my general strategy is blast the crap out my plants with light. That can get a little expensive. LOL

Will this be your flowering space?

@Growinggreg Definitely start in smaller pots, once they start to form normal leaves, start watering around trunk instead of right up on it. This will encourage the roots to seek water which in turn makes plant bushier.
Lighting wise you will need MORE, it takes more light per sqft for flowering than veg. Lights are about the most critical piece in doing this, not to take away from importance of other factors but light is the “food” that makes it all possible!

Yes I will have a few out side n with the ones outside do I need something for pest control

I was doing some research on autos never grew them and the guy said from germ to soil out in pot ur going to grow them in for the reason being not to shock the plant

The cheapest possible way to grow decent bud in that size area would be to buy 2 through hooded 600 watt hps / mh fixtures. You can swap the bulbs out for flowering. They will require an inline fan to remove heat from the room and fixtures unless you hav a really big room that can stay dark during the flowering cycle. The obvious downside is they will consume more energy than an led but it will get you in the door cheaper than led will. Do NOT spend yer money on blurple lights or any Amazon lights. Talk to @dbrn32 about the cheapest best light you can run. I run the the best free light in the world to flower my dope :sun_with_face:

I would say that is correct for Autos, I do not grow them. Photoperiod plants are totally different. If you bring plants inside after being outside you run risk of contamination, some say they have never had a problem and some say they did it once and never again. I myself am not willing to risk it!
If you are somewhat handy and think you can build a light, there are a ton of options as far as older LED tech. that would work and probably cheap too. DO Not waste your money on something that seems like a unicorn with a rainbow in his A$$, I am not an expert but I know a guy who knows a guy

Thanks for the info and I will talk to @brn32 I did put a couple of plants out side I just have neighbors in back and on the sides so I’m have to train these babies to be low and low profile the t8 bulbs are good for the veg stage though I believeand I will take your advice I was looking at HPS bulb and fixture .that’s what I have used in the past

Well no the t8 bulbs are good for seedlings they will not be adequate for decent vegging. You will begin to notice stem elongation and the further your fixture gets from the soil the less light the lowet part of the plant will get. In addition, branching will not be as aggressive.

Yes it’s about 4 ft wide n 6 ft long but I can make it a 4x4 witch means 12 plants I use 5 gl buckets

Maybe you can help I like the idea of the sun also but I have a lot of trees if they get direct sun like half of the day and they still you know they’re outside in the sunshine and but it’s not directly on them is that good enough

I would recommend this, it’ll be easier to get a commercial fixture to cover this size area.
If you’re looking for an LED fixture, rapid LED has a diy, and HLG has a fixture for a 4x4 space. Hlg will be cheaper than the rapid fixture. Both are excellent quality. Just depends on what you’re looking for. @Growinggreg

Cannabis is a light whore, the longer the day of sunlight the better. Some guys and gals map out their yards throughout the season to find the best place to plant. If you grow outdoors, favour the fall sun. The late summer sun is too blasted hot. Try to find a spot that will give you at least 5 hours every day of direct or filtered sunlight. They wont be as massive as a full on plant but still pretty decent.

Thanks I’ll check it out

Ok

This is what u we’re looking for

I still recommend the hlg light. This will work, but not as efficient, and half the brightness.
Also only covers 2x2

That light is completely inadequate for a 4x4 or 4x6 grow area and don’t believe the BS marketing, it’s not 600 watts, it’s only 100 watts.
