Do the sugar leave in the bud dry up and fall off at the end of its life cycle?

Typically no, they are part of the bud structure. They can look rough if not given the correct amount of food during the last few weeks but the ones that do yellow and fall off are the large lower fan leafs like so…

Not normal for sugar leafs to dry up and fall off. @Bonjoyle Has you covered sugar leafs normal become part of the bud as in fattens up. Good luck
