Yes… 12h light /12h darkness… If not you will have problems with your plants.

Yes you can potentially cause a plant to hermi if you have light leaks or turn light on and off to check on them during the lights out period
Most of us will not enter the grow room or tents durning light out 
There’s a lot of info on the forum if you do a search

Yes, complete darkness, even a pinhole or the glow from a power strip can cause problems
